Well, and the fact she has absolutely no qualifications for the job other than she is President Bush's friend. No academic writings, no academic record, never been a judge. Other than that, she is just swell.
I can stomach all the points you mentioned (and agree the marriage issue is grossly unfair). The fact she has no business being a nominee for an appellate court position, let alone the Supreme Court, when there were many qualified conservative nominees is what is unacceptable.
Every time some huge spending bill got pushed through, all we heard was "just be patient, it is all about the judges". Well, this is what we got.
I hope it looks better tomorrow, but for today I plenty angry.

Gore looks to be niether Pro Life nor "conservative" in 1987.
Phil Gramm used to be a Dem, but look @ the difference in Phil and Al's voting record. She did not give money to Phil, she gave money to Al and Lloyd. Just sayin'...

" If Bush were a democrat, FReepers would be livid."
You forgot that W also said he'd sign the AWB if it came across his desk.
Some of us are livid, you don't know how many times I've been told that things are "incrementatlly" getting better.
The sellout to China continues, the borders stay open, the welfare state expands, the military is shrunk. What's different than when Clinton was in office other than that the interns are safe?

She did not get the ABA to drop its pro-choice position. She merely advocated that the members have the option of voting on it. Big difference. And Ronald Reagan didn't get abortion outlawed, he merely advocated such.

"Chuck Shumer "neutral" on Ms Meirs at press conference broadcast on Fox News." Are you reporting that as "fact," because that's not what I saw at all.

That's what the Donner Party faithful do.. How many pounds does that mean you'll lose?... 2 or 3?
Sorry you aren't a part of the political landscape.... But major corp support both sides of the fence via their corporate leaders......

"Holy crap, someone actually worked Terri Schiavo into this thread." Uh....actually discussing TS/euthanasia, rights for the disabled and pro-life are appropriate considerations when discussing any political appointees.
If you have a tendency to want to forget about these important issues..here's a little reminder for you.
..
Terri Schiavo Before dehydration
God Bless you Terri in your hour of death
Let everyone who said your beautiful smile was fake be haunted by it for the rest of their days.
Holy cr@p Terri! You were disabled and you were murdered! Some of us will NEVER forget and will not put you on the "forbidden" comment list to appear politically correct.

I agree. I'm surprised at the angry flack I'm getting from people today, simply for trusting the President!

I'm with you. The Dems made it clear that the next nominee would be much more difficult. They repeatedly said that they were going to fight the next nominee no matter who it was. I think they are going to whine and complain and not let her through so then Bush can bring his real nominee forward. It's a huge gamble, but I don't think the Dems are smart enough to see Bush's mistake and let her through.

I can count on one hand the number of women lawyers who 'get' second amendment rights.
Single woman lawyer understanding "defense of traditional marriage"? even fewer.

Because he knows the woman, and knows she will hold her ground.
Why be upset at what you only can guess at?
Aren't there enough REAL issues to be concerned with without making them up?

But you can't post why that url is relevant to this thread? How can I agree or disagree w/you?
Uh-oh, Tammy Bruce is worried. She's a conservative talk show host in LA. She authored the book "The Death of Right and Wrong".

Look at her on TV and tell me she's someone who inspires confidence or hopes for longevity. She looks like she's close to dead already. Yeah, I have to agree--the lady has not aged well.

I don't know how conservative Forrester really is though.
Is Lynn Swann running in IL? I heard that somewhere.
