GWB should have picked the best available. We all worked hard for him so he could do that. If he makes a squishy pick, we will be very disappointed.

She has NO JUDICIAL EXPERIENCE

Correct me if I'm wrong, but what judicial experience did Rehnquist have before his appointment by Nixon?

She donated to Al Gore for President, the DNC and Bentsen's senate campaign.

Yes, she'd had GOP donations since 1994 but do you really believe someone who would make those donations above is someone you want on SCOTUS for decades?

Head of the Texas Lottery and no doubt her former firm represented "Big Oil". The Dems will be screaming. Just my prediction.

With so many great judges out there, how could he pick this gal?

So which is it? You just got through wailing and moaning that SHE HAD NO JUDICIAL EXPERIENCE. AFTER BEING INFORMED THAT NEITHER DID WILLIAM REHNQUIST, you start your ill-informed bashing on two other fronts.

It's been funny listening to some Democrats saying the president could/should appoint someone from Congress. Most of whom haven't had experience as a judge either.

I used to be a dem and you would be hardpressed to find a more conservative Republican than I now am.

This is a horrible choice.

Not only will conservatives sit on their hands.

But she is a physically unattractive woman.

She's a WILD CARD and this smacks of cronyism.

Some how I suspect you would be mad no matter who President Bush picks.

Exactly what too many apologists are missing. This appears to be a politically made calcuation and not based on the best qualified. Anyone who would make donations to Al Gore for President and the DNC is *NOT* who we all campaigned for.

I voted dimocrat in 1988 and believe me, you would want me on the SC. People change.

That said, the hearings should be interesting since they can't quiz her on a judicial past.

It's amazing to me how so many people claim to be experts on the judiciary.  I have NO idea who would be a good pick

Neither did some Presidents, wouldn't you say?  :-)

Kinda makes it easy to be an expert when the powers plays can so easily get it wrong.

Why did you call them "great judges" and call her "this gal"? If she's not a "great judge", she deserves to be called "this gal"? Talk about your put downs.

She donated to Gore for president in 1988. Since then, all of her contributions have been solidly for Republicans.

Me too. I guess I conformed to Winston Churchill's saying that "A conservative who is young is a person without a heart and a liberal who is old is a person without a brain"!
