I just spoke with an aunt of mine who lives in Tulsa. She and her husband were at the game tonight and they saw the area marked with police tape. She spoke with one of the cops and he stated that there were "multiple devices" in the cordoned area. The cops on the scene think that the bomber was trying to attach the bombs to the parked buses when a bomb detonated before he could do so.
WOW.........big bump for this post.
"The cops on the scene think that the bomber was trying to attach the bombs to the parked buses when a bomb detonated before he could do so."
First time I've heard anything like this tonight. This is scarry and could have been accomplished easily. I'd really like to find out more about this angle of the story.
OPINION: So, it's possible it was a work accident, then.
One of the other posters on my OURivals forum wrote this, about the buses you mentioned:
~~~~
[snip] "... Our bus was one of three impounded by the FBI, so we hitched a ride home on another bus, just got home. The driver of the bus parked just behind us (another of the three buses impounded) happened to be looking at the guy who was sitting on a bench outside the George Lynn Cross Botany building, which is RIGHT AT where our bus was. This other driver was knocked off his feet by the concussion and otherwise unhurt but spending the night with the FBI and local constabulary. ...." [snip]
Hope it's OK for me to post this, I'm a newbie at posting here, but 7-year lurker. If not, I'll be glad to edit/delete.
Thank you Army Air Corps.
That would make sense as there are buses all around that part of campus on game days. That's scarey. They made an announcement for all bus drivers to get their buses moved. I know they checked out all the K-State people before they got on the bus. Buses make more sense because the stadium is reinforced concrete and it would take a tremendous amount of impact to do much damage I would think. But the number of buses that are parked around the oval are a lot.
Cannot imagine what would have happened if he (they) had been successful planting the devices. I refuse to believe he did it by himself -- that makes no sense.
Now we know what Nagin will say. "We didn't use the buses to evacuate because there were rumors they had bombs attached to 'em by the same folks who bombed the levee."
bump
Weren't these K-State buses? Is Sen. Roberts a K-State alum? Isn't he Chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee? Might've been quite a statement to him if they'd succeeded.
PS: Did you try to use your cell phone between 7:30 p.m. and 8 p.m. in the campus vicinity?
