From Staff Reports
NORMAN -- An explosion near the University of Oklahoma's Gaylord Family-Memorial Stadium killed one person Saturday, OU officials said.

The explosion happened at the courtyard near the George Lynn Cross Hall, Botany-Microbiology Building on OU's campus, which is west of the stadium, according to Sgt. Gary Robinson of the University police department.

The explosion happened during the second quarter of Oklahoma's game against Kansas State.

After the explosion, police set up a perimeter of several blocks and made fans exit the stadium to the east.

There are a lot of unanswered questions in this case. Nothing can be ruled out based on what WE know at this time.

Probably filming an episode of CSI: Oklahoma City.

suicide bomber at OU

Obviously in direct (and morally defensible) response to Oklahoma's historical occupation of "Palestine." < /saracasm>

Yes, misdirection can come from any direction.

The patent was for a computer chip process.

Pardon me, but I am reticent to follow demands from a N00B. Please do not consider this a personal attack. Just check my screen name, and when I first posted on this thread :)

My pet theory: Joel is a normal kid. Every young man has emotional instability, hormones, etc. Most young men in Colorado or Oklahoma are familiar with firearms. No big deal. He didn't make a bomb.

Joel was seen sitting on a bench prior to the explosion. This doesn't sound like a guy preparing to kill himself.

All the photos on the frat website show normal looking guys. No arabs.

The bomb exploded at a time the area would have normally been filled with people. Halftime was late.

After the explosion, two ME men were seen running from the scene.

The area is known to be a hotbed of radical Islam. Other known terrorists have been known to have been there in the past.

Boiled down, Joel is a victim of a bomb that went off too early that was left in place by terrorists.

Just speculating, and only posting it because no one else has said it yet, that I've seen.

1) Where did this kid obtain the high-grade explosives used in this bombing?

Anyone with 1/2 a brain could cook up some nitroglycerin. (I had a friend who used to do this and blow up stumps.) All kinds of info on the Internet about how to make explosives.

Here's my concerns in two sentences: This was a professional, ME terrorist-caliber bombing supposedly done by a complete amateur bomber. Although it's certainly not impossible, that doesn't quite add up based on what we know now.

Misdirection can be a wonderful thing. On another note, anyone know the nature of the patent held by Hinrichs I or II

The father holds the patent. It was a a new method of CPU processing using multi layer threads to speed up processing (from what I can understand from the patent. Additional info on patent can be found here: .

Oh, brother. And what "demands" are you being asked to "follow"? Sheesh.

Earlier, this bomb was tied to an 8:00 timeframe. Is this verified?

..."this was an angry mixed up kid who was into weapons and ammunition."

Yes, but liberals say that about conservative folks all the time. I'm certain that some girl back in the college days had the same opinion of me.

It's not that easy to make nitro and get it to work on the first attempt. Plus he would need a lab to cook up the nitro. Was he sneaking into a Chem lab late at night? Still a lot of unanswered questions.

Well, we don't know what kind of ordnance was used, yet. Once the authorities release that information, we can speculate more. However, I wouldn't think a very bright engineering student from a very bright background would find it difficult to create an explosive. The terrorists are surely the most barbaric minds on earth, but they manage to create these things.

What the heck are you talking about. We are doing our own investigation here. I just don't understand why some people even bother to get on the internet when they would be so cushy sitting in front of CNN.

This was a professional, ME terrorist-caliber bombing

And this is based on what exactly, besides wishful thinking?

One does not need to have won a Nobel Prize to blow oneself up.

LOL. I was vote by my fellow nurses as most likely to have a "nuts to nukes" party because I read a few issues of Soldier of Fortune because it was reporting the worlds hot spots.

My dad grew up in KS just north of OK. He and a few buddies cooked up some nitro while in high school. A bright engineering student shouldn't have that much trouble especially if he already had an interest.
