From Staff Reports
NORMAN -- An explosion near the University of Oklahoma's Gaylord Family-Memorial Stadium killed one person Saturday, OU officials said.

The explosion happened at the courtyard near the George Lynn Cross Hall, Botany-Microbiology Building on OU's campus, which is west of the stadium, according to Sgt. Gary Robinson of the University police department.

The explosion happened during the second quarter of Oklahoma's game against Kansas State.

After the explosion, police set up a perimeter of several blocks and made fans exit the stadium to the east.

This story is being killed.

Not necessarily. There could be other things at work here, including avoiding setting off potential copycats while the NFL is in session, and keeping the volume down to as not to alert any possible accomplices of last night's bomber until captures are made.

"Nothing is gospel, even when (especially when) the MSM reports it. Extend that to include the government. Always keep that grain of salt in your pocket."

I agree, 100%.

Has anyone been able to have a look at the crater left by the bomb yet?

Bomb? That wasn't a bomb. A bus backfired and a poor old homeless man died of a heart attack from the noise. At first they thought he killed himself, but that was wrong. And a squirrel chewed through the cell phone tower's cable and knocked out all the phones. All those bomb rumors were started by a bunch of drunk kids. The poor police had to come out and investigate but of course there was no bomb.

but I would think the FEDS can shut down whatever they want

I can understand if they would control the story to avoid widespread panic, but at some point they would need to let it out in order to gain support for beefing up security at other stadiums.

I don't buy the theory on this board that the MSM is keeping it quiet to deny Bush public support for the War. The White House would be fully capable of getting the word out that there was a terror suicide bomber if the media blocked it. There is something else going on.

question: if you blow yourself up with a bomb are you a suicide bomber or a just a suicide?

Or just an 'individual suicide,' which is even less significant.

Nothing on the OK FBI press release site:

http://oklahomacity.fbi.gov/pressreleases.htm

Norman local office phone (anyone want to call?):

http://oklahomacity.fbi.gov/ras/norman_ra.htm

Ask if suicidal person was a ME male 20 - 35 years old...

I srongly believe there are more facts to this story than being reported. How Boren can make the statement that no one in the stadium was ever at risk is just stupid. Going back to April 19, there has been a radical islam pressence in Oklahoma. Perhaps the most important "coincidence" concerning Moussaoui is his connection to convicted felon Melvin Lattimore, a convert to Islam who now goes by the name Majahid Abdulquaadir Menepta. Menepta was a member of a militant mosque in St. Louis and is now a member of a radical mosque in Norman, where he says he saw Moussaoui on a daily basis. According to Oklahoma news accounts, Menepta and Moussaoui were roommates in Norman, while Moussaoui attended flight school. Menepta’s roommate, Al-Attas, drove Moussaoui from Oklahoma to Minnesota to begin flight school there. When Al-Attas was arrested, Menepta drove to Minnesota and posted $5,000 bail for his release.

• When Menepta and Al-Attas returned to Norman on August 21, 2001, more than three weeks before 9-11, agents from the Oklahoma City FBI office knocked on their apartment door. According to the agents, several men fled the apartment and exited the building before the agents could react. Also, according to FBI documents, 9-11 hijacker Salem Al-Hazmi was seen in Menepta’s Norman apartment in April 2001.

According to the MSM, it's neither. It is Bush's fault /sarc

MSM could go nuts with this story, saying that this is exactly the kind of thing that is going to happen more and more in response to all the things that Bush has done wrong, it's all our own fault, it's just poor wittle middle easterners trying to get back at us for wrecking their peaceful countries . . .

I am really surprised at this whole thing. They could be all over this thing with their innuendo, yet they are not.

Hibachi charcoal grill not properly extinguished but tucked under the back end of the pick-up truck just as the tailgate party/cookout is ending. You get the same results.

Ya think? I'd think there would be pieces of a vehicle rather than a person lying around.

I give Free Republic the credit for educating me on just what Islam is all about and their agenda. I'm fairly well educated and try to keep on top of things. It's scary that so few in the US have a clue.

I agree that the treatment of this university suicide is different than any other I've read about, which are usually accompanied by comments about the depressed state of today's youth, etc. The MSM usually really goes for the 'human interest' angle of a suicide- heartbroken family, had no idea, etc etc.
We know ZERO about this case.
