The explosion happened at the courtyard near the George Lynn Cross Hall, Botany-Microbiology Building on OU's campus, which is west of the stadium, according to Sgt. Gary Robinson of the University police department. The explosion happened during the second quarter of Oklahoma's game against Kansas State. After the explosion, police set up a perimeter of several blocks and made fans exit the stadium to the east.
NORMAN -- An explosion near the University of Oklahoma's Gaylord Family-Memorial Stadium killed one person Saturday, OU officials said.
I'd hate to clean that filter . . .
My son is at his fraternity house now and is going to try and talk to the guy that saw the blast and get the info on the girlfriend from Iran. He hasn't lived in the house in two years and is a Grad Student and GA so he didn't know the girlfriend but when my daughter and I described her, he knew her boyfriend.
Hehehehehehe. I can just hear his "professor" now....
"No, Abdul, you idiot! You're supposed to pull the cord AFTER you enter the stadium!"
Is there a difference?
While I understand that there are many places where someone with a backpack wouldn't arouse much interest, terrorist carrying out an attack at a large university would never be detected until after the fact. I have two children attending one of the largest public universities in the country and I've seen the spectrum of people there. There could not possibly be enough security to keep tabs on all the suspicious looking, backpack clad persons roaming around that campus.
It is certainly not encouraging.
Sorry but it is last night's news. Today's news is that there was no second bomb in the backpack.
yeah, that will finish off FNC for the rest of the afternoon now. they have a "hostage" story to run with.

Message to self: Bkmrk and check back later.
The oddest part is that my bag was cursory checked and my daughter wasn't even asked to open her purse at the gate we went in -- same reaction from people around us. This was the least amount of security at our gate that I have witnessed since 9-11. But others said they had their bags fully searched at other gates. We probably had a lax police officer in our line.
A police bomb squad detonated explosives found at the site of the blast. The area near the stadium was searched by bomb-sniffing dogs.

Thanks for the information. I too am glad that your son is alright. I am sure there is more to this story than Boren and the MSM is releasing.
Actually, I don't remember a whole lot of that time, as I was working full-time,and going to school full-time, and getting about 4 hours of sleep a night, at best. I know they arrested Zacharias M, and looked hard at a bunch of his friends, but not what happened to them. Anyone who was a friend of his and didn't get out of town after that was probably a fool, anyway.
Didn't you just hear Fox news reporting that a 2nd explosive device was found near the body? That was reported about 1 hr. ago.
One intends to kill yourself, the other intends to kill yourself along with others. (Suicide by Bomb, and Suicide bomber, respectivley.)

I the most recent published article. PhiKapMom has some local info.
This was from the AP.
Although it is dated today, it is the exact same story from last night. We really don't know yet if there was a second device, not factually anyway.
I haven't used that term since being at Penn State in the early 70's, tee hee.
try and find out how far both the "suicide" detonation and the police induced detonation were from the location of the buses. what time of day did this occur? was it still light out? does the area near the buses have security, is it well lit, is it in a visible area where people would take notice of someone attaching a bomb to the side or underneath a bus?
