The explosion happened at the courtyard near the George Lynn Cross Hall, Botany-Microbiology Building on OU's campus, which is west of the stadium, according to Sgt. Gary Robinson of the University police department. The explosion happened during the second quarter of Oklahoma's game against Kansas State. After the explosion, police set up a perimeter of several blocks and made fans exit the stadium to the east.

NORMAN, Okla.(AP)- One person was killed in an explosion in a traffic circle about 100 yards from a packed football stadium at the University of Oklahoma on Saturday night in what authorities were calling a suicide.
"We are apparently dealing with an individual suicide, which is under full investigation," OU President David Boren said in a statement.
There were no other reports of injuries. There was no word on the identity or sex of the person who died.
The loud noise of the explosion could be heard clearly inside Oklahoma Memorial Stadium, where 84,000 people were watching the Oklahoma Sooners play Kansas State.
Officers cordoned off an area west of the stadium, known as the South Oval, and nobody was allowed out of the stadium immediately after the blast, which occurred shortly before 8 p.m. People were allowed out of the stadium about 8:30 p.m.
A police bomb squad detonated explosives found at the site of the blast. The detonation could also be heard in the stadium area. The area near the stadium was searched by bomb dogs.
"At no time was anyone in the stadium in danger," Boren said.
Kerry Pettingill, Oklahoma homeland security director, said the incident was under criminal investigation and the motive behind the explosion was not known.
As fans streamed out of the stadium after the game, they were routed around the crime scene. Some fans leaving the stadium were escorted by police to buses that were parked near where the explosion occurred.
The state Medical Examiner's Office was on the scene as was the Norman Police Department, firefighters, the FBI and officials of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
FBI spokesman Gary Johnson said an FBI bomb technician was providing assistance to local police. Emergency vehicles, including fire trucks, surrounded the area.
OU police Sgt. Gary Robinson said the body had not been removed as of late Saturday night as a bomb team continued to check the area for possible explosives before detectives could move in for their investigation.
Jaclyn Hull, an OU freshman, said she was leaving the game shortly before the explosion.
"We saw a little bit of smoke, about as much as you would see coming up from a grill," she said.
Stan Hilton of Tulsa said he heard the explosion while he was watching the game from his seat near the field.
"I became afraid at halftime when they had us locked in the stadium," he said after he left the stadium.
Larry Lucas II, an OU senior, said at the time of the explosion he was in the university's architecture building near where the blast occurred.
"At first I thought it was a prank because that's where the Kansas State buses were parked," he said. Lucas said he saw Kansas State players leave the bus before the game.
Authorities could be seen searching Kansas State players and coaches amid tight security as they boarded buses to leave the area.
It sounds as if you trust the elites to report the facts. That is not what this forum is about. This forum was built on the media elites not reporting the criminality of Bill Clinton. Alamo Girl's Downside Legacy is the one the most important documents ever generated on the internet and was originated on this forum. Jerry Parks was a Clinton bodyguard who speculated that he was a dead man after the unfortunate demise of Vince Foster. He became the victim of an unsolved murder. Marcia Lewis the mother of Monica Lewis says the reason that they kept the blue stained dress was that they did not Monica to end up like Mary Mahoney. These are things that were discussed on this forum and may sound like grassy knoll stuff to you. Unfortunately, the forum has started to become a cheerleading forum for the Republican Party which seems to have sold its soul to NWO.
Pretty much exactly what was posted late last night .
There are loads of reasons for a cover-up, and not all of them are sinister. This is an NFL day, for starters, and even the lamebrained boys and girls in the MSM know it's probably not a good idea to go blathering on about stadium bombers lest irrational fear creep in or, worse yet, bozo copycats come out of the woodwork.
There's no question this is being soft-pedaled. Let's move the venue and say for example that someone had detonated himself or herself outside a popular New York nightspot last night. You BET there'd be loads of coverage this morning. But since the venue was a football stadium -- a feared terrorist target since at least the '70s -- and we're in the midst of an American Football Weekend, keeping the story under wraps at present would seem a prudent thing, panic-wise, copycat-wise, and otherwise-wise.
My initial thought was that the bomber intended to wait until the game was over and the crowds were walking through the area - then detonate and many would have been injured or killed -
Hello, I've posted a blog entry on my blog
http://floppingaces.blogspot.com/2005/10/oklahoma-bombing.html
about this event and put a bunch of the replies from this forum on there. I woke up this morning to this comment:
Hopefully this gets to the right person. Just read your blog entries about the explosion at the OU campus. I am a reporter for The Oklahoman newspaper, and based on what I just read, I think we need to talk to your son's acquaintances who were so close to the explosion. I won't ask you to provide me their phone numbers, but perhaps you could get my e-mail address to them. If you need to confirm my identity, please call The Oklahoman at 405-475-3231 after 10 a.m. Sunday. Thank you.

I believe this is meant to PhiKapMom
I have no idea, but the same thing happened with the OKC bombing. I watched the story morph right before my eyes. Back then, I think the motive was to (a) push through the anti-gun legislation Clinton wanted (and it worked), and (b) demonize conservatives using McVeigh as the poster boy (this worked fairly well too).
This time, I'm speculating that it might have to do with avoiding a panic, or avoiding retribution against our considerably large Muslim community--and maybe the folks thinking OU didn't want this kind of publicity plays into it have a point, although I wouldn't imagine this would be the primary reason.
However, the best reason I can think of is, they want to play dumb in hopes of nabbing the rest of the gang.
wowow relax...I'm only saying I dont see any cause here to think this was a botched terrorist attack and I dont , so far, see a media cover up plot on this story..
LOL - I thought I had indicated he Tin Foil Alert ...
Time will tell .
I understand. the only thing I am trying to show with this analogy is that on 9-11, had there been only one plane, no 2nd plane, no pentagon plane, and let's also say that there was no evidence of a hijack - would we have accepted a media claim that it was an accident? that's my point.
"#2 About the phones...Let's pray that this is Homeland Security playing intervention so that other "remotes" couldn't be set off...But why bring them back up so quickly? Maybe I'm just overthinking this."
A friend who was Special Forces in Nam is a consultatant to many local Swat teams and spec ops and beyond that.
When the bombings happened in London, he said that they were probably set off by cell phones. He has advised local, county, state and other officials when something like this happens to have cell phone providers to immediately cancel their services for a time period to prevent secondary explosions being triggerd.
Having said that, demand after an event like this could overwhelm most local signal systems.

It was way too loud for that and a pipe bomb blast would not have made the stadium shudder. We sit in Row 71. The people behind us on Row 72 leaning against the back wall said they felt it shake behind them and then we all decided it was our imagination. Guess it wasn't. |
Yup
Just got this--nothing on the news..anything new? Deliberate news blackout to appease you know who?
we talked about that last night - the LAX shooter was a "lone wolf" terrorist.
