Hurricane Rita landfall is anticipated within the next few hours. Strong winds and heavy rains are battering southern Louisiana and southeastern Texas.
MSM news crews are shouting over the howling winds as they foolishly describe blowing rain, swaying trees, and crashing waves through rain splattered camera lenses. It's a hurricane. We know these things already.
An 18 wheeler rig reportedly overturned on an I-10 bridge. The fate of the truck driver is unknown at this time. Reports of widespread power outages in Lake Charles. KPLC-TV Lake Charles local news has remarkably improvised their reporting from a remote location. They are taking calls from residents, NWS, and public utility representatives, and alerting residents to local conditions.
On the flip side, CNN announced to the world that law enforcement officers had evacuated from Port Arthur TX with the rest of the population. Engraved looter invitations would have been more elegant.
Godspeed to all those in the path of this storm.

I remember seeing Cameron directly after Audrey. There was literally NOTHING left. In fact, I didn't know there was a Cameron anymore, till a few years ago. My dad's company had some wells in the area.
Leni
we only ate that once a year at Christmas. It is really easy to swallow.
Tornado warning for Cameron & Cau______ Parishes . . .

TORNADO WARNING for Calcasieu and Cameron Parish
Yep that's it I think. Pretty crazy, but may not happen.

Hillary, Mel Watt, Joe Biden, Lincoln Chaffee, Jesse Jackson and Gov. Easley--are any of these acceptable for the list?
Re: I wish I was artistic and demented, I would create good old "Loosiana" Voodoo dolls for Blanco,Nagin and Landrieu and stick them on a roof in 100 degree weather.
Make them out of wax, please.
That's damned funny.
eh,just a pet peeve of mine"ethnic"....everyone has an ethnicity...just my 2 cents,and off topic......sorry,im a Carlin fan and a word nerd
No, one was there, the shell is all that was left of the building and standing in front of the building is a black woman with a white thing wrapped around her head and tied on top and a little girl in a white dress and pig tails... I can't tell 100% certain, but I think she is black, too... the woman's dress looks like something from the 1920's more than 1800's to me -- but what is really strange, the building almost looks double exposed where the trees are against the building, but the rest of the tree -- not touching the building -- looks totally normal.
The Rosehall Plantation had quite a reputation, I may find the book I bought on it and re-read it..been years. I think this has all been torn down and turned into a hotel, wonder if the ghosts haunt the hotel?
