Extremely dangerous Category 5 Hurricane Rita continues to threaten the Greater Houston Metropolitan area. The forecast track has shifted slightly to the northeast, increasing the risk to Southwest Louisiana, and a significant portion of the oil and gas operations in the Gulf of Mexico. Texas Governor Perry is urging all coastal residents between Beaumont and Corpus Christi to evacuate as soon as possible.

We got your back. It's another 2 hours or so to the next set of updates, maybe a bit less to the next Vortex Data Message.
FEMA - Interview on KTRK said DoD, and 2 other entities will be starting to supply gasoline to stranded cars.
People stranded on the roads will be put in shelters.
Do share!!! Dont be an info hogg! ;)
That is good to know. I understand correctly GFDI still has most of the good characteristics of GFDL, but takes more recent traxx into account.
Good to know about CONU, it seemed more 'stable' to me.
Storm down to 914 again.
Reminds me of the night during Katrina that the Admin Mod broke the whip on a thread. Big bold caps, you will be banned, etc....and it was addressed to me, instead of "all."
Oh, sorry.......I have that same problem.
Fema Director saying that if people get stuck when the storm hits there will be shelters to direct them to..how the hell do they get there when they are stuck on a damn freeway or other roads. People could end up dead by flood.
Buster, you don't have a clue...
When everyone is done slapping each other around (in more ways than one ;) ) - is there any update?
From what I'm gathering, Houston is backed up with traffic though all lanes are open now, outbound - and it may hit east of Galveston? Still a Cat 5?
ROFLMAO!
I do - I just don't have any mix for it!
Is it behind the Seawall?
water already rising in lake pontchartrain, per steve lyons on TWC
TRY READING IT AGAIN!
Whoops...my bad. I apologize! I misunderstood, too.
I remember that! LOL
I'll defer to your expertise then, I'm 43 years old but I've only been exposed to weather for 12 of those years.
National Geographic doing one on Katrina coming out for Oct. The cover looks like one of their typical photos from the third world.
Summary: Put the coastline in the rear view mirror and don't stop until you see the Rockies, the Appalachians, or a sign saying "Welcome to Saskatchewan."

I45 isnt going to flood...
