If you were on a high bluff, and in a house you could really count on, poured concrete or something, it could be fun riding out a cat 5. I always wanted to ride out a strong cane, got my wish in '92. 'Course the house was boarded up, I couldn't see out, and it was dark anyway. It was scary, but an experience I'm glad I had, and hope never again to have. It changes your outlook on life.

I have to say that for the most part, the storm brought out the best in the people in the neighborhood.

you MUST get all the cleaning agents out from under your sinks

That's the best tidbit I have read today. I hope I don't need it, but very wise.

"Also, it's begun moving a bit closer to due west now."

Cool. I can't find my drill driver, and I need it for a couple of my shutters.

Did you find someone to talk to about rescheduling because Rita seems to be headed more North now...? Still, we rechecked our hurricane supplies last night & are making plans to visit the in-laws in San Angelo this weekend... Hope all goes well for you...North Padre to me seems to be mostly undiscovered seashore...beautiful...

Oh no, thats right the motels are full in Katy. Many of our churches here also have evacuees still living there but the numbers are going down. My husband is there right now at our Catholic Church helping out.

Hopefully it won't come to having to go to a hotel but its not looking too good.

I didn't mean a hit today...I meant this AM forecast today...knowing that forecast wouldn't hold.

The evac routes will be too busy later in the week if it stays on track. Better to help those that need it on Wednesday/Thursday while the buses can make multiple trips - to where ever they are going.

Yeah...practically due west for the past 6 hrs...that's gonna mess up the models, which were calling for WNW.

Which is exactly why the 5-day cone is so big.....
