Tropical Storm Rita has developed from TD 18 in the Atlantic Ocean. TS Rita is currently located north of Hispaniola, the eastern tip of Cuba, and ESE of Nassau, Bahamas. Hurricane watches and warnings are in effect for portions of Florida. Check for local weather statements.

I know you can't always trust your eyes. But, this storm appears to have eyes (well at least one) on Key West and maybe even the southern tip of FL. That will skew all of the models east. All points along the gulf coast should be on alert.
OK, do you mean that it is further north than the map shows, or visa versa?

That was just my observation while looking at post #1461. Only one of the eight tracks shows a South Texas landing. NO is still to the right of easternmost track, but not by much.

Yes. I saw those tracks. The yellow one put the northeast portion of the storm right over my hometown, Houma. Those tracks have changed much since last night.
hmmmm.....I am wishing for some rain.....but I want rain without hurricane lines attached!
Another thing that can be handy to have on hand is clumpling cat litter and a bucket...just in case.
The lines should be drawn over the island, rather than drawn to the south of the island.

An elderly friend of mine lost her Uncle in that Keys Storm, and it was a horrific tragedy for all of the victim's family members. She was only ten when it hit and was living in Miami, but it is still vivid to her. They never told the Soldiers that the storm was on the way because they did not have good communications.
There are no models worth anything that have a landfall other than Texas at the moment.
For whatever reason there are several ancient and pretty inaccurate models that are kept running; can be misleading if you don't know which ones they are.
Oh, I wonder if that means it will be a little closer to us then (we are north of Miami). I'm really not up for alot of wind. :(
