The Dem playbook
The Hill newspaper gives us a peek at the Democratic playbook for the Roberts hearings. Below are the attack assignments for the Democratic members of the Committee:
Kennedy -- civil rights
Leahy -- Bybee torture memo
Biden -- privacy, personal autonomyand the 9th Amendment
Kohl -- Property rights and civil liberties
Feinstein -- "judicial activism" and Roe vs. Wade
Feingold -- limits of executive powers
Schumer and Durbin have wisely refused to show their hand.

People in Illinois need to realize Obama is being set-up as a darling of the MSM. Watch how fast he moves up playing the race card.
See my post 2959, however, I don't come close to how well he stated it. I've got it in my head...it's so hard to state.
ahhhhhhhhhhh, poetic justice!!!
after all, he helped make her a household name.........
Oh.....great. I've been watching it on CSpan tonight. When does evil Chuckie show up?
I've endured Kennedy and Biden..........
I can't stand that guy. I'm tired of Hannity promoting him, like he's a voice we should hear. He's done nothing but waffle back and forth between the parties.
I don't think he's honest at all, just says whatever he thinks is popular.
I think he's a weasle who blows with the wind.
I think ole Lindsay is a wannabe loser.
Plays both sides..........
Two rounds a day. This is nothing for Roberts, he's been through this process once before not too many years ago, being nominated on the DC Circuit.
It's already clear now after the first day of grilling, that Kennedy and Biden are the attack dogs. Schumer may in fact already have decided to vote FOR Roberts.
I agree. Hannity shouldn't promote him -- exactly right.
He should find a better senator to talk with.
I think it's disengenious when Lindsay Graham sat back in his chair with his eyes closed throughout the whole proceedings on Monday. I missed his performance on Tuesday, but it doesn't surprise me that he's trying to act lawerly, and make some grandstanding effort to look like a pompous fool.
"Judges take a more practical and pragmatic approach when deciding the rule of law," rather than sticking to a strict philosophy, Roberts said. "The Framers chose to use broad language [in the Constitution], and we should take them at their word."
I agree, but, then again, this is the first time I've seen him in front of this committee, even though he's been there once before, and most certainly knew the kind of climate he'd be up against, especially with the likes of Schumer, Leahy, Biden and Kennedy.
I think the biggest surprise thus far is Specter actually in there with a pair.
He slept all day Monday. No wonder he sounded ill-prepared.
"If Blanko was impeached and convicted, I assume that Landrieu Junior would take over. He doesn't appear to be competent to manage his checking account.
It would probably just be another nail in the DemocRAT coffin in LA."
We Can hope!!!
NARAL has to write the letter for their moonbats to send out to their Senators.
Give me my abortion, NOW, dammit! (that's what they would like to say).

Dear Senator,
As your constituent, I am urging you to oppose John Roberts, President Bush's nominee to be the Chief Justice of the U.S. Supreme Court.
If Roberts is confirmed to a lifetime appointment, there is little doubt that he will vote to dismantle Roe v. Wade. As Principal Deputy Solicitor General under the first President Bush, he argued to the Supreme Court that "Roe was wrongly decided and should be overruled
."

I was too, but I think they're overreacting. Do they really think that someone whose wife was a member of Feminists for Life would pass up a chance to overturn Roe v. Wade?
Won't really believe it till the second round finishes.
BUT, I was certainly surprised, shocked even, by Schumer's rather mild performance.
BTT!!!!!!!
Roberts is the most able, intelligent, and calm speaker I have ever seen. This is one incredibly well mannered and intelligent MAN. And his sweet wife has integrity written all over her face!
