U.S. commercial air carriers continue transporting tens of thousands of evacuees from the New Orleans airport to destinations throughout the nation.

Rooftop air rescue efforts continue. One rescue chopper crashed late today. Crew members are reported safe. Gunmen who fired upon bridge repair contractors were killed by law enforcement.

To date, an estimated 70 countries and U.S. businesses have pledged hundreds of millions of dollars, supplies, food and equipment to assist the United States' efforts in Katrina's aftermath. Lt. General Honore described the damage to Mississippi today, "all infrastructure south of Jackson, MS is either damaged or destroyed." Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice visited the devastated areas, and attended Sunday church services in Mobile, Alabama.

Elsewhere, Sean Penn's rescue boat, sans plug and full of his personal entourage, reportedly sank during launch in New Orleans. Senator Mary Landrieu (D-LA) threatened to punch President Bush, and Jefferson Parish President Broussard decried that the bureaucracy of FEMA has committed murder.

Streaming Video:

All information is subject to change. Many stations are relying on their corporate parents to configure and maintain Internet streaming. Because of the intense interest in the feeds, they may be unavailable at times because of network congestion or a problem feeding the video to the streaming servers.

WWL-TV New Orleans - WWL-TV is operating from studios at Louisiana Public Broadcasting. CBS has a relay during the morning and afternoon. When available, use the CBS relay first as they have greater streaming capacity. They have a secondary stream from Yahoo. WWL-TV is also offering a special low-bandwidth audio-only stream for dial-up users.

WDSU-TV New Orleans - The news staff has started to return to temporary news studios near New Orleans. However, expect evening coverage from Hearst-Argyle sister stations WAPT Jackson and WESH Orlando when the New Orleans staff needs to take a break.

WGNO-TV New Orleans - New Orleans' ABC affiliate has returned to the air with WBRZ-TV and launched video streaming with continuous Katrina coverage.

WPMI-TV Mobile, AL - WPMI is webcasting from 5:30am - 10:30pm CDT. When off air, you can view pre-recorded reports on demand. This feed is often unreliable.

WKRG-TV Mobile, AL - This station is providing good coverage of the situation to the east in Mississippi and Alabama. However, the station is now signing off at around 10:30pm CDT like WWL and WPMI.

WJTV-TV Jackson, MS - The CBS affiliate in Jackson is providing live coverage for both the Jackson area and south Mississippi (knowing a lot of media in that area is off the air).

WFAA-TV Dallas, TX - WFAA-TV is here because Dallas is one of the evacuation cities.

United Radio From New Orleans: WWL-AM, WNOE-FM, "KISS-FM," WRNO-FM, WYLD-FM, and WJBO-AM (Clear Channel & Entercom) who have joined forces as United Radio From New Orleans, and they are streaming.

Gulf Coast Storm Network (Clear Channel Radio) - Clear Channel offers radio listeners across the gulf coast access to a simulcast emergency radio service. This service seems primarily focused on Alabama and Mississippi, but does cover Louisiana to some degree.

New Orleans always stinks to a degree, especially in the French Quarter. It's part and parcel of the place.

I've been to some Saints games, was in the club rooms, went to see Jimmy Buffett (before I knew he was a democrat), and enjoyed the entire scene.

It's just New Orleans, plain and simple.

How would he know, he was submerged.

Oh wait, perhaps he's referring to submarines, they call those "boats" too.

Yeah Penn was probably referring to the three boats he saw in his bathtub..

Oh my! That's funny. LOL

We're they floating next to the rubber ducky?

Yes, and they've ALWAYS told us to prepare for at LEAST 3-5 days before they could GET TO US. What is so hard to understand about that?

Our city is chock full of these "here I am take care of me" people. We're not used to it and it's not going down too well. We are getting at least 10,000 more. We'll never be the same!

We haven't been able to take care of the ones we already have, much less get more. Good grief what is wrong with these people?

Scarborough was having an affair, that is why he dropped out of congress. He also had an intern die in his office, under mysterious circumstances.

The dead intern is probably why you linked him in your mind to Condit.

Someone like Penn needs to be removed from the situation.
He is not a reporter, elected official or a member of the military/official rescue groups. He is only there for his own personal political agenda over and above any effort made to rescue the victims.

Lets see, people were told to evacuate, they didn't, went to Dome which was shelter of last resort. They were told to bring their own food and water as there would be none. The folks who CHOSE TO STAY AT HOME were in for the long haul.
I would assume that most would get food, water, batteries,
radio, medicine, etc. upstairs with them and tough it out.
Now we have endured countless scenes of people screaming we didn't get any water etc, a lie IMHO, and the media is behaving as if they have been stranded at sea for a month.
Hey Joe Scarborough, they were on there own for 4 days. No body even swept up the garbage. You would think they just survived the Bataan Death March if you listen to the MSN.

Here ya go, Peach...FWIW

AP Jul 20, 2001, FORT WALTON BEACH, Fla. (AP)

- "A 28-year-old office worker for U.S. Rep. Joe Scarborough was found dead Friday in the congressman's district office.

Preliminary findings from the medical examiner's office showed no foul play or any outward indication of suicide, said Police Chief Steve Hogue.

Authorities identified the woman as Lori Klausutis of Niceville. She had worked for Scarborough since May 1999, said Mick Serrano, press secretary for the congressman.

Her body was found on the floor behind a desk at about 8 a.m., Hogue told the Northwest Florida Daily News. Authorities were not sure if she had been there overnight or had opened the office a few minutes earlier.

Scarborough, a Republican, said last month he was resigning to spend more time with two young sons."

(It didn't amount to anything)..

"Listening to Greta interview workers in the Astrodome. 400 Law Enforcement Officers on the Grounds. Outstanding!"

Saw it - and was impressed w the set-up and organization. NO could have had a command center like this, too. Granted, the electricity was out, but it doesn't appear they had any back-up energy or a PLAN (or would led the Feds in to help them).

To: El Laton Caliente

I know exactly what you're saying, Laton.

I realize, however, that a significant proportion of the money's going to go to the Red Cross despite this, so my personal campaign is to see it earmarked for the "CenLA Chapter" here in Alexandria, Louisiana, where it will do the most good.

As I feared, with the exception of Jesse Jackson's weekend photo op here demanding that Alexandria must do better to create "family-friendly" and "livable" shelters for the 200 people he brought in during the middle of the night from New Orleans, the cameras have turned their attention away from the 10,000 families here in Rapides Parish.

Now that new shelters are cropping up in many other places, people are sending their donations to these facilities instead, because that's where the media is directing its fleeting attention for the moment. Just because the Alexandria shelters took these people in first is no reason to forget about them. They will be here in our community for months to come and, despite everyone's best intentions, the truth is that we don't have enough jobs or apartments to help them for the long haul.

So, as long as people automatically pick up the phone to make Red Cross donations whenever there's a crisis, it's best to just grab whatever crumbs we can from it by steering it to our local chapter. Meanwhile, there are many other Alexandria/Pineville organizations where you can help people directly without the red tape and the overhead and the middlemen. Thanks!
