And crow you will eat.
Word is that the Witt, Slater, and Clarke (Wesley) outfit were paid $500,000 for the "plan", and now Blanco has hired Witt to evaluate the plan. Unreal, isn't it?
`````````````````````````
Kind of like having Jamie Gorelick on the 911 Commission, isn't it?????? :)
I think you missed the first part; mariabush maintains that "Calvary" is how all southerners pronounce "cavalry." The MSM, of course, have never heard of Calvary, so the question doesn't arise. ;-)
BINGO!
How I wish that "moment" were shorter.
Geraldo still thinks that the "Berlin Airlift' was in the Kennedy Administration. It is always about him. He is always seeking gratification in one obnoxious way after another. Many years ago he was with Sheriff Nick Navarro when they filmed all those early "cops" programs in Broward. He was a camera hogging dingbat then and has not changed. He had competition because the Sheriff was also a camera hog. At least Nick had credentials for busting Dope dealers.
I listened carefully to Newt....and what he was proposing sounded unobtainable...
He was insisting that we "can't wait until the water goes down"...and that they need to get in there before that and expend any and all people, money, etc. TO MAKE THAT CITY BACK AGAIN...
Now, correct me if I am wrong, and Newt is right----but we have a war on terror that is going on, that given the chance, has leaders that would do twice the damage of the hurricane.
We also have energy problems...that need refineries built...AND...we have to keep money available in case another hurricane comes and does the same thing in Florida or Texas...
IOW---I got the impression the Newt was being unrealistic in saying "what he would do", did you guys?
No, you aren't.
My thoughts are that he, like Geraldo, has crossed the line from objective reporting to make himself part of the story.
Please understand that I didn't care for Shep's style before the hurricane. I find his writing style (reporting past events in present tense) amazingly hard to listen to and a mangling of the language.
But his performance during the hurricane, including his "dodged the bullet" comment about New Orleans, has been lacking. I have over twenty years' experience in electronic and print media - and I'd sooner watch someone else.
I can absolutely see him dressed like Tim Curry in "Rocky Horror"
It's astounding
Time is fleeting
Madness...takes its toll
(from "Time Warp")
That's it!
Considering that it is going to come out that NO spent money given to them for the levee on a CASINO and that it's going to come out that they also spent this:
***I did a little research. New Orleans has spent 673 million over the last 10 years on: New basketball arena, New Vintage Trolley Care system and just recently appropriated 315 million for the convention center expansion. Seems they had the money, but chose to spend it on pork projects rather than the poor and helpless citizens of New Orleans. Google search New Orleans basketball arena and trolley rail system.
I think this story is far from over.
Both 17th Street and "barge passed through" broken levees can be found in here. The barge is visible too, as are a number of other barges further up the canal.
There will be more anger when the Public realizes how much the shutdown of the Port of NO will hurt their pocketbook. They will demand that the Feds make sure that the State of LA complies with implementing a full Emergency Plan (sanctioned by HS) for the entire delta area. I believe there may be private litigation aimed at the State for screwing up everything.
One of them teaching today is a student that I caught red-handed cheating on one of my tests. She may have matured and become a good teacher, but I can't help but remember that sad fact every time I see her.
I agree with you---
I read Pukin Dog's fine post this morning where he pretty much "slapped" all of us that have a tendency to "panic" and get depressed or upset when the talk shows and politicians get exceptionally vicious toward President Bush.
He made me think---as he usually does---and I fell back to my personal "measure" of my own problems --- I always ask myself what is the "worst thing that can happen"..and then put things in perspective.
Mo1--in a lot of FR poster's minds, the worst thing would be an impeachment of President Bush (discounting physical problems of course)...
I cannot even imagine that that could happen because of this...there are WAY too many people that would have to stand in that same line, in order for that to happen.
Therefore...I may get irritated at what is being said...but I have no fear here...he isn't running for re-election...won't be impeached...case closed!
Of course, that doesn't mean that I won't get on here and complain about the idiotic statements---like Newts!!! LOL
You got that right
They want investigations??
Fine ... Bring it On!
I thought so too; I viewed his statements as more of a rant than a well thought out position. More yada, yada, yada and blah, blah, blah than anything really substantive.
I just heard that some of the refugees (excuse me, Sharpton)..are going to be transferred to Massachusetts on CAPE COD!!!!
Whoa...talk about change of scenery!!!
