It knocks the race war they're instigating off the front pages for awhile.
I figured the opposite. They set Roberts up as a racist with the "War between the States" idiocy. I've got a feeling they will use the Bush hates blacks line all the way up to the Senate floor demanding that Roberts and Bush want to reenact slavery/

Dan Rather must be going insane not to be the anchor right now.And Bill Clinton, not to be president in the Bush years, is very upset too. :)

I would like to see a link too, as I remember this was reported, shamefully, once already!

Chief Justice Fred M. Vinson, died September 8, 1953. He was the last Justice to die in office. He was replaced by Earl Warren.

CJ Rehnquist was a giant in the history of the USSC.
He will be sorely missed. Especially if PresBush doesn't appoint another conservative jurist to replace him.
RIP William Rehnquist.

Re: Planned (un)Parenthood. Unfreaking believable in a week full of unfreaking believable.
While I'm here, watch for this desparate strategy from the Libs: "Well, gee, the Constitution doesn't specify exactly 9 members -- we've got 7 now, and that will break all ties. So why do anything to the court?"

So who of the names floated around do you think he'll pick?

I was stunned and then immediately thought about how this Chief Justice did what he loved up until the end. He never quit.

"Rehnquist was appointed to the Supreme Court as an associate justice in 1971 by President Nixon and took his seat on Jan. 7, 1972."
1-7-72 is my birthday. Interesting coincidence.

"Everyone line up in front and behind of this President now and flank him from all ends. It's our job to protect him and take down the forces that are going to come against him."
You are absolutely correct! We cannot fail our President as he has stood firm for us in the face of disasters both man made or nature driven.
May God hold the Chief Justice in the palm of his hand and grant solace to his family.
To: youthgonewild
It's a mess. I wish Bush would choose Judge Roy Moore of AL.
