Shep showed a dead body along the freeway. How low can you go to grandstand? Things are bad in N.O., but he didn't have to show it.

"He said that citizens were telling him that their questions were also being ignored by the police....or, that the police didn't know where to tell them to go....or they kept being given wrong places to go, cause nobody really knew where they should go."
The other night, there was footage of what I think were two NO cops, one man, one woman, both seriously overweight, grappling with a looter, ripping off his sweatshirt, and then laughing as he ran off. They didn't seem very professional or very competent. But I could be wrong - maybe they were just security guards hired by a store. At any rate, the attitude of these other cops shows a definite lack of leadership at the local level, and that is NOT the fault of Bush or FEMA.

Shep keeps saying over and over, "These people coming out of the water and walking up on the interstate, no one is telling them where to go or what to do." I yell back at the TV " Shep you know more about where they need to go and what to do than anyone they have come across, you give them the information," for crying out loud.

What you are seeing in New Orleans is the result of very, very poor planning at the local and state level. They have got millions of dollars to plan out disaster response over the past few years. It was SPECIFICALLY for planning disaster response.
This planning is done by the people who know the local area the best, the local government. All of the federal plans are in place to assist the local government. If you don't have a good plan, this is what you get.
As the feds move in now, they are making it up as they go since the local govt. let their people down. It takes a good week to get resources moving and deployed. Local govt. is there to plan, assess the situation, call in the aid, secure the area.
You are watching a true tragedy unfold because of piss poor local leadership.

Why can't military helicopters fly food/water to those people? It would help if some dumba$$ WAS NOT SHOOTING THE 'CHOPPERS TRYING TO HELP.

Sadly, leadership is completely lacking, within the city/area/state.

I'm with you. I'm sick of sanitized, homogenized news being spoonfed to the Amurrikin Pipple because to show the truth would be too "disturbing." People damn well ought to be disturbed! I know I am. This is going to change everything, possibly make 9-11 look like small potatos. I know the faggots in NY would never admit anything could overshadow THEIR disaster, but this has the earmarks of a five figure death toll.

Like it or don't, Shep harping about those people on the Bridge the past two days has gotten help to them faster than otherwise. He has undoubtedly saved some lives (like yesterday when they stood in the road and made a policeman take a very hot 5 day old baby to safety).

It wouldn't bother me any. The soul has long left the body. But then again I think differently than alot of Freepers.

Thanks for the report -- when I want to know what really is going on I read what you have to say. I didn't see the report but from past viewing of Shep, your analysis makes perfect sense.

I think he has all the intelligence of a piece of lawn furniture. He's just a pretty face.Shepard Smith has served as eye candy for Fox News. Now he's got himself right smack dab in the center of a real mell of a hess and I think he's doing a fairly good job. He's under basically the same conditions those people are so people need to cut him some slack. I'm going to cut the next three hundred messages now, and see what y'all are talking about now. Probably the same damn thing.

Indeed, truly puzzling; I mean, they're 'right there.' they must feel invisible.

I posted emails last night from the AF and Army about the amount of supplies that have been taken in already -- media is ignoring what our military has already done and continues to do.
