Looter are armed gang situation worsening.
Makes sense, as the Aquarium is on the waterfront near downtown.
I don't think most do. I think you have to have federal flood insurance.
Where's Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, and the rest of the poverty pimps? They should be on the ground in New Orleans helping restore order.
Apparently the buses are lined up on the interstate somewhere else, they're afraid to drive in.
Horrible scene of people waiting at a convention center just shown on MSNBC. A man uncovered an old man who had apparently expired right there in line. Children crying, two women, an old white woman and a young black one, barely able to stand any more. The rest are angry mobs now, because they've been waiting with no organization or aid and they've reached a breaking point.
I'm overwhelmed by the very real threats of lawlessness, and the desperation of everyone else. This is a disaster like we've never seen.
STOP with the racism. You make all conservatives look bad.
Wow...I guess I'd better get out more and celebrate diversity.
(shaking head)
There might be a Snicker's Bar on board. Ya never know.
Good humor and irony need a smidgen of truth to work. Sadly, there's more than a smidgen working here.
I truly hope so...honestly I do! Nothing could be better for the long-term stability--SURVIVAL--of our country and our way of life.
Of course, if they are firing at the helicopters, the people should fire back to protect themselves. But, of course, the victims in the area are at risk of getting shot.
These are people in a city who have gone through hell. There are drug dealers, scum, criminals, no-morals people as well as good people. And, we have to find a way to protect the victims and the caregivers. Don't know the answers, just get sick and tired of all the comments about shooting and killing as the answer to everything every time there is a problem in Iraq, Afghanistan, and now here.
Some people must really be panting waiting for the gunshow to start. I thank God those people are not the ones making decisions for Americans, making decisions, plotting efforts.
They need to take a look at President Bush. Do you ever see him rushing in kill as an answer? No, much thought, prayer, and wisdom go into any action. Which is exactly why I will always trust this great man as our leader. He is not a vengeful hothead, but a strong, kind, reasoned leader getting all information before determining a strong course of action.
Not everybody heard the hurricane was actually going to hit. People who were there said the local channels downplayed it bigtime. My relatives thought they were trying not to rock the "tourist dollar" boat--but whatever, some people, maybe a lot of them, didn't think it was serious. My relatives watched the Weather Channel and other cable news, not just locals, and left early, even before the order went out. Others rely on local channels, maybe not very smart.
Harry Connick, Jr. is at the convention center pleading on MSNBC. This is really something else.
I said it before the death of America will be the enemy who lives amung us. This situation proves it.
I agree and have said so many times.
That's what I was afraid of. And that--apart from the initial crisis--has been my biggest concern. What do people do in these situations? I know that is a stupid question, but it's been on my mind these last several days.
but the thugs can't read...
So. What's the problem?
This is part of what got me to write my comments. I found it way back up the thread and knew it wasn't from you but wanted to make sure everyone else knew it wasn't either.
Well, it can't be "New Falluja" - Rush has given that moniker to Detroit (in the wake of the NBA Pacers and Pistons game last year).
Great, now those low-life thugs have condemned everyone to death as FEMA has withdrawn rescue efforts.
May God help those people. They are at the mercy of scum now.
Deosn't FEMA just give loans to people whose homes been destroyed by flood? Wouldn't that put them into the situation of paying two mortgages if their home wasn't already paid? I know that I'm just ignorant of these matters, but I've been wondering about it since Katrina left this destruction in her wake.
All I can do is stare at it.
I don't know ... for me, it didn't matter one way or the other. Then again, I'm not the one making the assumption that mentioning race is an indication that that one thinks race is relevant to behavior:
It seems to me that only a racist operates from the presumption that race is relevant in behavior.
