What the hell? Why would any idiot start firing on choppers? I even took pause here to see if I could discern any possible benefit for the shooter, and I came up empty. Such an action could only make things worse for the shooter. I don't get this at all.
Life imitating art. New Orleans right now, is a scene taken right out of "Escape from New York".
I trust the horrific irony of this is not lost on us. While thousands of our brave men and women are parked in the Iraqi desert, dodging car bombs, rockets and trying to subdue the vermin who make them, we have a similar rabble causing mayhem on our own shores. They should not now, nor ever have been in Iraq. They should be in downtown NO, weeding out the detritus intent on totally destroying an already desperate situation.
Before we bring order to Baghdad, we need to bring it to the United States.
The fabric of this country has corroded from within. It is rotten and is held together only by a steady supply of hamburgers, gasoline and basic amenities. Remove these things and we instantly morph into the worst savages.
Before this is all done and dusted, the worst and enduring humiliation will not be the natural havoc wreaked by Katrina. It will the inhuman destruction wrought in its aftermath by the ghouls whom the waters exposed.
So the people can choose. Protect national security or send money to New Orleans.

No, that's no good. How are you going to tell the bad guys with weapons from the people who're protecting their property with weapons? There are several threads from yesterday where good and honest people drove looters off at gun point.
I wouldn't say that everyone left in New Orleans are rioting, out of control looters. However, having worked in the wireless telecom industry for about 18 years during which I traveled to and worked in 49 states in such lovely places as New Orleans, South Chicago, Gary, IN, South Central LA, and 16 countries such as Nicaraugua and Peru. Never, in all my travels, have I ever heard as much automatic gunfire as I heard in the summer and fall of 1996 in New Orleans while working on a Bellsouth Mobility project.
Simply put: You loot, we shoot. End the mob mentality by dropping the thugs with weapons. Instantly the others will stop thinking like a mob and start thinking like individuals worring about their own health and safety.
If you don't stop it now, it will get worse, I assure you. These animals won't stop until New Orleans, or what is left of it, is burned to the ground.
Yup, NO is all about keeping the oil flowing in the U.S. - can't rescue people in the city and can't stop the looting. Just like in Iraq where the Oil Ministry was protected first, the refineries and pipelines will take priority over the lives of the bottom dwelling welfare-moms and on-parole thug gangstas. Those people are the True AMericans that need help. Black people need help, not black gold. < / sarcasm>
Please, stay out of Oklahoma. We don't want your kind here, in case we have another disaster of our own. We have enough looting criminals in OKC and Tulsa as it is.
During the 1989 California earthquake, when the 880 freeway collapsed in Oakland, the gang bangers and drug dealers became the heroes and recuers. Too bad the same thing is not happening in NO.
With martial law, that would be the proper course of action. Until the thugs see this, they will believe the military will just smoke dope with them.

The looters don't want the city evacuated. They're laying claim to the ruins of the city. The bank vaults, the ATM machines, the jewelry stores, the drugs stores, the liquor stores, the hospital supply rooms. It's their city now.

I'm afraid the only alternative that's going to work in the jungle that is now new orleans is to have one of the good guys open up on one of the bad guy shooters with a .50 cal. Once the other looters see their buddy literally cut in two with one shot, they'll quickly change their minds. Besides, how long can pilfered walmart ammo last?
I hate to say that this could happen in the USA, but by God, shooting the hand that's trying to help/rescue/feed you isn't "social rebellion", it's just out and out violence for no other reason than violence.
We have the same people in the "projects" in our town too. It's not just limited to N. O., I can assure you.
Liberals say these people can't afford food, rent, medical care, etc. but they can sure as hell afford cell phones and pagers . They know all the police codes so they can ambush them too.
Wait until you have a few of these THUGS show up in your driveway one day demanding drugs, money, your car, etc. Or have them form a "human chain" across a street to ambush you. The whole damn family is part of their tactics in our area of the "projects". NO ONE with a brain cell left will enter our "projects".
They have been TAUGHT FOR YEARS they are VICTIMS of the "evil, rich, white man"!(you don't even have to be white to fit that description either). And it doesn't matter how much the "evil, rich, white man" GIVES them, YOU are still their ENEMY. If you don't believe that you should hear some of their conversations about "CRACKERS" and "OREOS".
These are not black people these are THUGS. They hate "black people who try to be white" (OREOS) just as much as they hate "CRACKERS".

Form a perimeter, blow the levees, and seal it off. Evac the dome and any hospitals in the area. NO will be burning to the water line soon, and if we don't contain it this anarchy is going to spread.
