President Bush: "We are dealing with one of the worst national disasters in our nation's history." Push has appropriated vast federal resources to assist with the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.
78,000 people are currently in shelters. New Orleans evacuation continues. 10,000 additional National Guard troops have been called to service.
Hospitals are running low on supplies, and public health concerns include water borne disease, poor sanitation, food and drinking water contamination and shortages, mosquitoes, carbon monixide poisoning from electricity generators, lack of childcare, and the special needs of the elderly.

That Cafferty idiot is pissing me off!
LOOP is intact and operational - but the pipeline must be inspected before it can start full operations again.
"Cafferty is bashing Bush bad. They think he should have gon to NO by now... sicko"
The MSM is no longer hiding their hatred for the President.
YEAH...HOW 'BOUT YOU GO TO NEW ORLEANS?
Check further up this thread..there is a contact phone number for the coroner in Harrison Co., MS.
There is also a number or website I belive on that posting that is for "safe" check-in from that area.
My heart hurts with you, I grew up in Hattiesburg.
Maybe Cafferty should read the constitution
The President does not have the auhtority to take control of a State
That is the responsibility of the Governor
AND SHE FAILED HER STATE!
Thanks, Good stuff.
Would you mind giving me specifics about that? Via Freepmail is fine, if you prefer. Thanks in advance.
"Maybe we need better visuals so those less-informed citizens can finally get-it."
Agree!
I had no idea the airport was open.
Cant read threads. Family and I evacuated. No idea on home or job :) Oh well I always wanted to start over somewhere.. with mountains. Library access in the country rules!
You are wrong, this is suppressing an armed insurrection. Been met with force throughout history, in a declared emergency shoot to kill is an option.
Well, ya got to admit that 1 thing that CNN guys just said is True:
"The Whole World Is Watching"
Shep: The building on fire before was an elderly housing complex and was allowed to burn itself out, unable to get to it. No word on how many people may have been inside.
It's all over the news, Rose. Everybody is donating.
real nice.
No, my dad tries every night (they are his last two sisters).
He did tell me this morning that one sister's husband and son lives with them, and they have a car, a generator, and a chainsaw. He doesn't know if the car, the generator, or the chainsaw work, and whether or not they have fuel.
