President Bush: "We are dealing with one of the worst national disasters in our nation's history." Push has appropriated vast federal resources to assist with the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.
78,000 people are currently in shelters. New Orleans evacuation continues. 10,000 additional National Guard troops have been called to service.
Hospitals are running low on supplies, and public health concerns include water borne disease, poor sanitation, food and drinking water contamination and shortages, mosquitoes, carbon monixide poisoning from electricity generators, lack of childcare, and the special needs of the elderly.

It was bad, see the posts following mine.
Does anybody have information on the oil rigs and the "loop" status?
I don't know the exact area, but he said its an old house on 3 acres of land about 15 miles out of Biloxi. He lives here in Tokyo near me and was only able to contact his brother in Chicago. Last name is Harris. Thank you for asking.
Yeah. From the scanner traffic, I think someone in NO is about to get a *really* big surprise.
Cafferty is bashing Bush bad. They think he should have gon to NO by now... sicko
Ya know, if it is so difficult to coordinate, as Gov Blanco is stating (and I believe her), why doesn't she put a military general in charge of coordination?
Sorry to clutter the thread, but LOL!!
I think that the hospital staff might not know the differce between shots fired, and an "attack" on the hospital. I think people in the hospital have heard the same rumors as we have read on here (because they obviously have phone service) I think people are on edge.
Uhh,Rage, the capslock can be our friend. Personal flame attacks are really frowned upon on this site.
Good point..while everyone is out today..if you don't see a matching funds sign in a store you shop at..ask to see a manager and have him call his manager..etc. and ask why.
Earlier on this thread someone was blasting him for NOT showing it. So you're damned if you do and damned if you don't.
Nice info, mind if I ask where you're getting it?

2:25 P.M. - Email to WWL producer today from a friend: Talked to Donny (news photographer Donny Pearce of WVUE) today for a while, he's in Shreveport with his folks, sounds very shaken up, had a horrifying escape from the city apparently, people hanging on his truck begging for help/food/money....saw all the looting,, taped the storm shredding JP Sheriffs headquarters.
I did hear that martial law was enacted for a couple of days but the cops saw no signs of looting so martial law was suspended. It was only innocent storekeeper's who got shot.
A pathetic example for a civilized society.
OOPS--I hadn't seen those...I am sorry.
I think I better tie up my typing hands today....
