President Bush: "We are dealing with one of the worst national disasters in our nation's history." Push has appropriated vast federal resources to assist with the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.

78,000 people are currently in shelters. New Orleans evacuation continues. 10,000 additional National Guard troops have been called to service.

Hospitals are running low on supplies, and public health concerns include water borne disease, poor sanitation, food and drinking water contamination and shortages, mosquitoes, carbon monixide poisoning from electricity generators, lack of childcare, and the special needs of the elderly.

"You think fallen nature is something new over the last 30 years"

Uh...Do you actually read before you post or do you just post half-cocked?

My point was twofold. One: humanity is fallen. Two: Public Policy over the last 30 years has served to weaken the moral/religious restraints that restrain fallen nature.

Clinton wanted the mic SO BAD! As they were leaving the podium, Clinton gestured for 41 to step up to the mic, KNOWING HE'd then have the last word as the Prez he KNOWS everyone now wants...to be biting his lower lip!

I'm not going to bash him, but I was dismayed to hear that there is going to be a gas shortage for several weeks. I don't have any gas, I can't go to work, and I have maybe a week's supply of food. I have plenty of money to buy what I need, but no way to go and get it. I'm now worried about losing my job because I can't get to work. There is no public transportation here. I filled up on Sunday, but because of the storm and power outage, I've used up nearly a tank of gas trying to find ice, food, and get to & from work. My situation isn't nearly as bad as those who lost everything in the storm, but I can't help anyone else if I'm stuck at home with no food and no transportation.

I don't know but the hospital takeover rumors sound like a bunch of bullsh*t to me. Who the Hell wants to take over a hospital when there are big screen TV's and jewlery to be liberated. Not to mention banks.

This is a disaster of epic proportions. And, no branch of government can step up to a podium and tell you the truth. That is, this is something even your beloved governments are gonna struggle big-time with. They're humans, not gods.Sometimes you just have to fend for yourself.

If we can get the innocents out of town, it will be a whole lot better. There is a nightly curfew.

If they swamp the choppers, then what? I have the feeling a riot is imminent when transportation gets there."

No Guard CO worthy of his rank will send helos into a hot LZ w/o gunshop support.

I have heard many leftists say that Bush slashed $20 million from FEMA funds that would have been used to reinforce the levee system in New Orleans.

The whole premise is wrong. He didn't cut back any money. Bill Clinton did not sign for the improvements & money requested by the Army Corp of Engineers & LA to make them. Source: Somewhere on a post I read.

but this thing is turning into a fustercluck of totally epic proportions

I concur. The situation is ridiculous, regardless of who dropped the ball.

FEMA has known for a long time that a direct hit on NO would cause these problems, but they are addressing the situation as if it is a complete surprise.

bad guys do not want to leave, nor be rescued

They are going to form, if they have not already, militias a la Mogadishu.

They need to be crushed.

Without assigning blame, don't you think it would help if the Governor got off the stick and declared martial law so our active duty military could actually go into the city to help law enforcement?

VERY WELL SAID.

Secular, Marxist, idiotbot humanism is deadly to the max.

The idiotic idea that man is nothing but a rat, a pigeon, a raddish or a rock.

means

if I want what you have--and I have the gun--too bad for you. Values, morals, RIGHT/WRONG goes immediately out the window.

And her unroyal lowness, her hideous heinous--Shrillery Antoinette de Fosterizer de Machiavelli de Marx de Pol Pot de Stalin de Mao de Sade LOVES THAT perspective--all the easier to do her ruthless power mongering.
