Don't panic! Never thought I would see you quote the front page of The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.

Why post this stuff...aren't you adding to the panic? Here in Phoenix, AZ gas is still $2.63 per gallon, the weather is hot, but in a psychological sense folks here are staying cool as the other side of the pillow. No anxiety, no gas lines, no panic.

Hell, now I'm afraid to leave my office. I have to drive home past a Hess station that is right on a very busy corner. It causes traffic jams all the time because cheapskates want to save 2 cents on a gallon of gas. If there is a line to get in this station it will take me an hour to get home. :(
BTW, I filled up yesterday, and my husband filled up our other cars. He works at home, and I can if I have to. So I think we will be OK until this stupid panic subsides. But I have a sister in the Atlanta area who commutes 50 miles each day and does not live anywhere near public transportation. She is screwed if she can't get any gas.

I'm in middle GA. There have been lines out onto the roads with people trying to get gas. On the news they are saying that some reported the gas prices going up as they were pumping it. One person would pay one price and the next was charged a higher price.
Gov. Perdue is holding a press conference right now. From what I understand he has gotten reports of price gouging and says it won't be tolerated.

Thank God we're coming up on a three-day weekend. Maybe an extra day at home will allow people to calm down.

Fox News just said they saw one Gas Station at $5.57 a gallon. I do not think its an urban legend. Also Neil Cavuto had a reporter report $3. and I can't remember how many cents.
My girlfriend and I are going to car pool in order to reduce our fuel cost, and cut back on eating out.
You know if the government CARES so much about the gas prices, they why don't they cut back some of our taxes?

I went to fill up after work here in Montgomery. The first station was completely filled with cars 3 deep at each pump. I went to the next one and had to wait in line about 10 minutes.
While pumping gas I talked with two ladies filling up next to me. One said the pipeline story was a lie because it is underground and the hurricane couldn't have damaged it. The other lady said and I quote,"I know what cause it, be George Bush, mmmhmmm George Bush."
I was pumping 87 octane and it ran out when I was at 3/4 tank. Price here was $2.79 per gallon. There were three deputies standing guard inside.

The panic is happening right now in central Ga. Macon, Warner Robins too. LINES and LINES at every gas station. I'm waiting for the fighting and shooting to begin.

Here in Connecticut, gas prices have been as high as most quoted here for months.
The public reaction counts more than the price.
Panic reports sound so scripted by Al-Jazeerah & friends, facilitated through the liberal "omg" American media, probably verbatim.
That doesn't mean you shouldn't stock up on the really important things.

Just saw on John Gibson's show $5.00 in Atlanta! The media is driving the price up with their shortage panic scenario!
