...for duties on the Katrina-ravaged Gulf CoastBreaking.
Details to follow.

Sending in the Louisiana National Guard or Guard units from neighboring states is pointless unless the soldiers are given orders to shoot looters on sight. The media has to be confined to the immediate downtown area so that the military can establish order without the usual liberal whining about brutality. Fortunately, the ACLU types are likely all well out of town. Then, a dusk to dawn (8 PM to 6 AM) curfew must be imposed, with violators shot on sight. The remaining population must be rapidly evacuated from New Orleans, carrying only the necessities (no obvious loot). Other than those still trapped in homes yet to be rescued, those who have not been evacuated need to be treated as outlaws and shot on sight.
Now here is Brian Williams, saying "The president cut short his vacation..."
I saw her biting her lip and wringing her hands, too. It's not as though the woman does nothing.
Heh.
The Army Corps of Engineers will follow later to repair the levees. They are really the only ones that are quick enough.
The looters are demonstrating a blatant disregard for the rules of civilized society and as such, exist outside of it and deserve none of its protections.
She finally called up the Guard??
Or did someone else do it?
There are plenty more.
Now, now, let's not be hasty.
I'd like to shoot these people in the head just as much as you, but sadly I am too far away.
NO is not the only area that has been destroyed, and looters are only a small percentage of those affected.
There are far more people all over the coast who are innocents in this who need help.
"Puff" has been gone for ages, westlander. A half dozen A-10s, three ot four AC-130 "Spectres" and about a dozen Apaches should quite the streets up to and after curfew.
The old WWII Higgins Boats would be perfect for parts of New Orleans and Biloxi.
Jack.
Her voters are the looters. She's not going to hurt them, without them, she has no power.
Yes indeed. And we're donating time and supplies, but no money that could possibly wind up in the hands of ingrates.
Earlier, I was just running off at the mouth..We're going this week-end, taking the hobie cat, especially if we cant find someone else headed that direction.
From the media report one would think this impossible since they are all being killed in Iraq.
A day late and a diamond short.
All the diamonds, rubies, gold and Rolexes have already been stripped from the jewelry stores, along with the .357 Magnums and the shotguns.
Oh, there may be a cubic zirconia or two left--maybe it is fine and dandy to call up 10,000 guardsmen now to protect the last few cubic zirconias and a bow and arrow or two.
Good job, mayor.
Her core supporters, no doubt.
Hubby and I were talking about whether or not he should go this morning. I wouldn't think they would want civilian volunteers in NO.
I might suggest taking a chain saw with you if you go to any other of the affected states. Looks like they are gonna need some help getting through all that debris.
I've already been notified by my unit that I may be called up. I'm in Electrical Power Production with the Air Guard in Oregon. (3E052) They're currently taking names of volunteers but expect that it may expand to involuntary call-ups of certain career fields nationwide. I won't be surprised if I find myself in the area affected by Katrina within the next month. Not that I mind, those poor people need help.
We figured we'd drive in the general direction until we saw some official looking gatherings or such...
Bringing one hobie cat, which we will hand off to someone else for use, don't yet know who..have plenty hard-working supplies, hand saws, one long handle pruner, tarps..two good 4 wheel drive vehicles with winches..emergency kits..stuff we've gathered for any local emergency needs..but nothing we cant replace.
From the looks of things, perhaps you should take some brass knuckles, as well.
