The question - where are the other 522,000 people from N.O.?
^^^^
In all the hotels, motels, and friends' homes between NO and Houston.

Why, oh why on earth would you just leave the bodies floating around? First of all, it has to be very unsanitary. Second, can we maybe treat them with a little more dignity than that? I mean, they were human beings, not pieces of flotsam to just be judged out of the way.
Because right now they have their hands full trying to keep more people from JOINING THE DEAD.
At this level of disaster you have to start Triage. Even some of the living are going to be shoved aside because they just don't have the resources to deal with them and they aren't likely to survive. Thats the reality of the situation.

He has smart people around him who have had 5 days to write a speech that would inspire and comfort.Hi, I have always been of the opinion that real Americans (and there are lots of us) don't need a figurehead to inspire us - we are a can-do people. And the ones who need real comfort just don't have access to a tv right now.

My last post, I was going to include how many businesses are going to take a HUGE HIT from this. Whole stores, complete inventories are GONE. It is going to take many, many months to even get basic services back into those areas so they can even begin to recover. All of that is lost, lost, lost. The looting is actually pretty incidental - as angering as it is.

I just heard one on local radio who has come up north to take refuge here over a thousand miles away, with family. People are really going to have to draw upon their neighbors - and we're going to have to help them.

You want sentimental. Imagine Bill Clinton giving his version of that speech with tears in his eyes. LOL!
Now will the democrat response be next to tell us how this President's failed policies of not combatting global warming caused this disaster etc etc Can you imagine a dem response. :-)

I'd settle for a hold on our foreign aid, including the "Live Eight" money for Africa. Got our own fish to fry.

Let's be adults. W understands powerful plain-speaking. His bull-horn speech at Ground Zero inspired everyone.
This didn't do the job.

It's a nice thought and I hope to be pleasantly surprised.
But I don't expect to be.

"Does this impact state air pollution controls? Calif. has more stringent requirements than EPA."It is my understanding that all gasoline will be refined to only one standard during the time specified.
I was listening to Rush when the announcement came and afterwards I heard Rush say Calif alone has about 40 different formulas so if they had to keep doing all the different formulas it would take them forever to get the gas refined and delivered.
