Late Tuesday, Gov. Blanco spokeswoman Denise Bottcher described a disturbing scene unfolding in uptown New Orleans, where looters were trying to break into Children's Hospital.
Bottcher said the director of the hospital fears for the safety of the staff and the 100 kids inside the hospital. The director said the hospital is locked, but that the looters were trying to break in and had gathered outside the facility.

No Children's Hospital Looting 4:35 p.m.
Doug Mittelstaedt, vice-president of Human Resources for Children's Hospital in New Orleans, said one of the biggest issues at the hospital on Wednesday was debunking the prevalent rumor that looters had stormed the hospital.
Mittelstaedt said things actually were operating smoothly at the hospital - the generator was running efficiently and efforts to relocate patients were going well - but fighting the rumor was a major issue.
Officials had to lock the doors of the hospital because people had arrived, apparently thinking there was a mob scene and they could get in on looting.
He said the hospital has been flooded with calls offering assistance from other Children's Hospitals in Louisiana and Texas. "The amount of calls we have gotten for support have been overwhelming," Mittelstaedt said. "The phones literally have been ringing off the hook."
With so many calls, Mittelstaedt said officials have been able to match up the 100 patients with hospitals that specialize in the particular treatments for each.
Hopefully all this looting nonsense will get the dimocrats unelected.
What party are the gov, the mayor and the AG of New Orleans and Lousiana?
Apparently police and rescue officials are allowed to take what is necessary from the shops. It is this policy that began some of the looting in the first place.
Now I didn't see what you saw, but is it possible he was taking food, etc. for the workers?
They are evactuating all the folks from the Superdome to the Astrodome. Are those the looters? Do we know that?
It goes to show Democrats cannot make the hard right decisions. They can only embrace the easy left wrong decisions. They cannot make a stance for good over evil.
Many will suffer because of the poor leadship in La. When citizens morph into anarchists then it is time to do what should be done. Protecting the life, property and well being of the law abiding citizens should come first.
No backbone or leadership ablities(Blanco&Landrieu&the Mayor) will cause the machine to break down. Good people should not allow this to happen.
Vote democrat it is easier than getting a job and being responsible.

What are the wetlands?
I mean, I KNOW what natural preserves are, etc., but were these two immensely failed individuals (meeting with LAWYERS before making their MANDATORY evacuation orders?????????) worries about HOMES in wetlands, LIVES in wetlands...or were they WORRIED about an eco disaster that would destroy a natural, federally or state protected environment? IF it is the later...these two need to be removed from office......period.
LibertyRocks,
Please do not buy into the democratic lie of troops being spread too, thin. The La. national guard should be on this ASAP.

Razorbak,
The democrats always try to hide the truth, but it has been exposed (the anarchists).

Hey Elvis,
It has been often said when a liberal democrat is in charge, they will F--K Up a wet dream.
La's Blanco, Landrieu and the mayor have confirmed this once again.

Understandable, but perhaps wishful thinking. A hardcore junkie could take an awful lot of meth and xanax before expiring--especially if they are already on methadone; in which case they have more than likely already discovered the boosting effect of xanax on their meth-a-dose.
Please send them to all the liberal enclaves(states) Ted Kennedy will be waiting with open arms/Kerry/Mama T.
Those states would not allow them, but they do look our for the poor people. My Ass!!!

I've thought that more than once today. Imagine if there was a wide-spread crippling of law enforcement capabilities - how many of our citizens would turn lawless? It's frightening to contemplate.
Hey Republic,
"There is a saying, People get what the vote for and all the incompetence included".
Looks like this is ringing true in N.O.and La.
Democrats will always make dumb ass decisions when put to the challenge.

They need more cops and NG from other states to be deploy to these area ,ASAP! What are they waiting for ?
What are the first steps to safe, legal home protection?
Feel free to freepmail me in reply in case this is OT. Thanks
I made the mistake of responding before I thought it through. Lesson learned, or maybe re-learned. Are you really that rude?
"This is a little embarrassing but I am late to the conservative cause. I truly believe in home protection, but am unsure how to go about it and get safety training and practice, etc. I think we should all be armed, this world being what it is."
I see that you live in NY. I'm sorry. ;) I escaped from there in 91 though, so I sympathize. :)
Check with local gun shops to find out the regulations for where you live. I advise buying a shotgun and a pistol. Shotgun is best for home defense. Pistol, I think there's more regs for in NY.
They'll be able to direct you to safety training as well, then go the the range until you're a good shot!
If you get a shotgun, take it to the skeet/trap range. It's great target practice... and a lot of fun.
"But a CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL????"
The drugs and the water. And the sterile wipes. Maybe the clean sheets. Or carts. What else is usable now? Food.
Remember this one?
"Amish Teen Charged With Stealing House Numbers
HUNTSBURG, Ohio - Callers complaining about loud music coming from a buggy led deputies to charge a 19-year-old Amish man with stealing house numbers and flower pots. David Byler was charged with theft and underage consumption of alcohol, both misdemeanors.
Callers to the Geauga County sheriff's office told dispatchers early Sunday about a buggy playing loud music and stealing items from outside houses in a rural area of northeast Ohio.
"When our officer caught up with him in the middle of the road, there were flower pots and house numbers in the buggy," sheriff's spokesman John Hiscox said."
