The situation in New Orleans continues to deteriorate due to rising water levels and desperation. Search and rescue continues via boat and air. Authorities have announced the goal to evacuate all the remaining residents of NOLA. The New Orleans Mayor has reported numerous gas leaks throughout the city. Sporadic fires occurring. Attempts to evacuate hundreds of hospital patients from Charity Hospital and Tulane Medical Center are in process. Patients are being transported to other hospitals as far away as Florida.
The Army Corps of Engineers is at the NOLA levee breaks with current plans to drop 3000 lb sand bags in an effort to stop the flow of water. NOLA hospital evacuations continue for thousands of patients. Reports indicate all evacuees are being taken to the SuperDome, which is now surrounded by water. The generators at the Dome are now in jeopardy. The Governor of Louisiana has called for a day of prayer tomorrow...
Elsewhere, search and rescue continue in Mississippi and Alabama. Biloxi reports indicate catastrophic damage.

Shots fired into 1st precinct police headquarters in French Quarter- BREAKING
So your idea was tried, and it isn't working. Time for you to stop, I think.
As I sit on the San Andres Fault, I think how strange it is that each of us seems to be able to accept our own preponderant act of God as "better" than others.
No, no. The Coast Guard would just rescue you and bring you to the Dome.
Fox News alert...2 perps armed with AK47's opened fire on a police station in New Orleans
She needs to call GW and request that the Feds take over.
/.02
OK .. this is out there... but how hard would it be to fly porta potties in/out? Or those catridge toilets.. and fly the cartriges in/ou? I know it's weird - but if they can't fly the people out - try to get them some type of facilities..
She is completely clueless, even mentioned buses at one point for evacuation of them, but said there is nowhere to put them right now.
Thirty of the victims in the county were from a beachfront apartment building that collapsed under a 25-foot wall of water as Katrina slammed the Gulf Coast with 145-mph winds.
Some lessons are never learned.
Fox News - shots fired by 2 guys with "AK-47s" at New Orleans 1st Precinct headquarters, police returned fire, no word on wounded. Shooters got away.
Very wise. From what I've heard, the #1 injury during an earthquake is cuts to the feet from glass and ragged masonry.
What is this ?? Shooting at police station with AK-47s? Is FNC at it again... AKs???? Crieky
It might be time to watch Taiwan as well.
2 guys with AK47s shot into Police Station in NO and after a shootout fled into the French Quarter.
"I didn't say that, and you know it. "
Greeta: 2 guys with AK-47 firing into the downtownpolice station. Cops fired back .. guys ran away into the FQ. No officers hurt. Yesterday, a cop was shot in the face trying to stop looters. Looters have to be chased in boats.
TWO guys with AK 47's shot into a police precinct in NO just now...
per FOX
Oh, I agree. I'd have been gone by Friday.
You've really got to wonder about people like that. Pure evil...
They've already have had deaths in the dome, even excluding the suicide jumper. I have to wonder if NOLA is actually completely cutoff right now by road. I realize the need to devote all the heavy military type trucks to rescue efforts, but why hasn't a bus convoy been sent in to at least begin ferrying person out? If they don't want persons wading through the water outside the dome, why not get the military in there to put in a pontoon bridge to the elevated freeway just a couple of blocks away? Sure setting up enough evac facilities has some logistic hurdles, but wasn't there a plan for such? This is the disaster FEMA planned for for training purposes? How hard is it to set up tents and porta potties on the grounds of the state capitol? Why not temporarily commandeer LSU's basktball coliseum? Their athletic gyms, their student rec gyms and racquetball courts?
OK, finally we are getting info of people in Kenner climbing on evac buses, have been loading for 3 hours.
