The situation in New Orleans continues to deteriorate due to rising water levels and desperation. Search and rescue continues via boat and air. Authorities have announced the goal to evacuate all the remaining residents of NOLA. The New Orleans Mayor has reported numerous gas leaks throughout the city. Sporadic fires occurring. Attempts to evacuate hundreds of hospital patients from Charity Hospital and Tulane Medical Center are in process. Patients are being transported to other hospitals as far away as Florida.
The Army Corps of Engineers is at the NOLA levee breaks with current plans to drop 3000 lb sand bags in an effort to stop the flow of water. NOLA hospital evacuations continue for thousands of patients. Reports indicate all evacuees are being taken to the SuperDome, which is now surrounded by water. The generators at the Dome are now in jeopardy. The Governor of Louisiana has called for a day of prayer tomorrow...
Elsewhere, search and rescue continue in Mississippi and Alabama. Biloxi reports indicate catastrophic damage.

Tropical Storm 12
There were some images earlier today of what I think was 10-- that's a bridge correct? -- all shifted and busted up. Looked like a total loss.
Glad you are okay....
Sorry, but that's nonsense. Deaths probably 200 or so. 500-1000 tops, v. 3000 dead on 9/11. damage of 50-100 billion, v. estimates of up one trillion for 9/11. Wait and see.
I don't want to see Bush issuing this order, and then have the media running shots of the federalized guardsmen shooting looters in the streets. the media will have a field day with that. let Blanco issue shoot to kill orders.
It is only getting worse.
LOL
As best I can gather, I-10 W is passable. That's it.
Thanks
Take it down? I am commenting on exactly what I see on the TV and that is a fact. You could argue that the news footage might be slanted in what they decide to photograph but you can't dispute the predominate race of the looters.
I wondered why they keep taking the people to the Dome ,,it seems crazy to me.
This is why CNN should be destroyed. Bush was WAY out ahead of Louisiana politicians on this, but this is what CNN chooses to report tonight.
Speaking of gasoline....
Here in Milwaukee regular unleaded rose from $2.69 tp $2.99 today. I filled up Monday morning and every pump, about 20, had a car filling up.
Here comes the big one.......about five gas staions in Milwaukee were closed today, because THEY WERE OUT OF GASOLINE.
NBC and NPR reported today that some shipments of fuel were being -halted- to the East Coast so the fuel could be reserved for the disaster stricken South.
Here it comes........
Those wanting to know about what is going on in NO and Mississippi will complain if he knocks out regular news..
I have heard him speak..I think Fox was the only one carrying it.
Aaron Brown is asking Ed Reams (not sure who that is) abotu the dome first then is supposed to ask about the levees. Ed Reams is the guy who mentioned the second imminent failure. Oh, Ed Reams is from WDSU Channel Six, NOLA.
8:04 P.M. - Mayor Nagin: Unhappy that the helicopters slated to drop 3,000-pound bags into the levee never showed up to stop the flow of water. Too many chiefs calling shots he says.
There is no "I" in TEAM
Other than Shep Smith and Brian Williams, what idiot is looking for a road into NO?
I appreciate that a road in can also lead into a road out.
