Andrew had relatively little storm surge associated with it, the damage from Andrew was mostly wind-related. Katrina had both. That probably will make it even more expensive than Andrew in the end.

I am driving a car that was in a flood right now.

Yeah, if it had hit head on, I'm not sure how it would have played out.
Probably much worse than it did.

It's shocking. It looks like it's going to be a long time before things are close to "normal" for these people.
I grewup in Ohio and lived with my Grandparents. Grandpa grewup on a farm and always knew when a tornado was coming. I spent time in the basement but just once was it necessary. To this day I look at tree leaves for telltale signs of odd air circulation and check if the sky is green. Stuff like this isn't something you ever forget.

I was thinking of further inland getting progressivly lighter stuff.
*Sheesh am I scarmabled from today..*
If heavy rains continue further inland semi-unabated, there will be further flooding coming down the Mississippi.

>Freepers beware of any too good of a deal on a car. Check for water lines in the doors and trunk. Cars will be totaled because of flood damage but someone can then try to sell them for a good price, often shipped to other parts of the Country.<
If you check out a vehicle on Carfax, you can find out if the car has a salvage title for any reason.
