Hurricane Katrina made landfall today at 6:10AM CDT, and she continues to drive northward into Mississippi and Alabama. Several local radar sites are down. Tornado and flash flood watches and warnings are widespread.
President Bush has declared major disaster areas, clearing the way for federal aid.

Hang on it is coming.
I see why they are doing it. The storm will still be tropical when it hits and they don't want the kiddies standing out in 30 to 60 mile wind gusts. It is going to hit in the late night and morning hours.
Look what it is doing to Georgia now.
Same here, and they have, even tho Im not Catholic, taken care of me on a few occasions when I was stranded in Texas way back when. Definitely good guys!
As the storm move up into the Ohio Valley and beyond, all the rain it dumps even in an area like Northwestern PA will eventually come back down past New Orleans (from the Allegheny to the Ohio to the Mississippi). Though, the drought in the upper Missouri River drainage area might balance that a bit.
My father doesn't spread lies. But thank you, anyway.
Another report from ham radio....
Slidell, LA
Numerous power lines down, numerous trees down, numerous home destroyed.
Level of frustration high.
Police Chiefs home destroyed, ham operators home destroyed.
They didn't even know who I was when they gave me clothing, food, water.
And did they not know that the storm was on its way???????
Looters should be shot and killed, then displayed publicly as a discouragement to other potential looters.

Man oh MAN, listening to Bill O'R on with the FEMA director...NO is facing a nightmare with this flooding. The standing water will get contaminated..no fresh drinking water..power off in areas for weeks and longer...
