The Red Cross puts money into a fund. This is a disaster fund. The money can be used for ANY disaster. Unfortunately when people gave after 9/11 they didn't know that. People wanted their money to go to those people. In the end that is what the Red Cross had to do. Millions of dollars remain in that fund. The Red Cross now makes sure that people know that when they give to a disaster that the money can be used for ALL disasters (unless you specifially direct the money towards something).

The President of the Red Cross also resigned over it. What more do you want? Nobody stole money. The Red Cross wanted to use the money for future disasters as well as 9/11. There was nothing wrong with that.

No money was stolen or anything else.

Well then who needs the Red Cross? Just let in private catering trucks, and keep the Red Cross the hell out. The Red Cross exudes arrogance and hubris. It also helped greatly to infect thousands with AIDS due to its refusal to take the issue of tainted blood seriously. They just didn't give a damn, until the spector of class action lawsuits frightened the. As per usual, it is all about money for them. That's why I say send in the private catering trucks and keep them out. At least the hypocracy factor will be reduced.

This is a 1998 modelling of a CAT 4 or CAT 5 moving through New Orleans in a worst case scenario path. It includes a good mapping of the levee system. This worst case scenario is now. tragicly, looking like it make have come to pass.

Better start a ping list for Google Earth. My son loaded it on the computer he gave me for my birthday. I've played with it a little but definitely need lessons to get the most out of it.

Me too. I only give to The Salvation Army.

We should all pray for the residents of South Mississippi (and Louisiana, Alabama and Florida panhandle). The area around St. Louis Bay likely took the most direct hit. Hopefully, people moved inland or to higher ground (which there is more of in Bay St. Louis than New Orleans, according to Google Earth).

I have an update from Onyx..the storm is still raging, but she's fine. No power, so when it gets dark she's going to try to go to sleep. She says she's just acting like a tourist because she's never seen anything like it in her life. She's having a hard time calling out on her cell, we had a pretty bad connection. If anyone wants something conveyed, let me know and if I speak with her later or early tomorrow I'll let her know.

The money can be used for ANY disaster.

I guess it all depends on what your meaning of "disaster" is.

Well people spread lies constantly. Nobody ever really cares what the facts are. The funny part is that if there was a disaster the Red Cross would be there for you. I doubt you would complain about them helping you either. I am sure you will post now that you would turn down there help.

Anyway no point debating the issue. Most people don't care enough to actually learn the facts about what the Red Cross does.

We will be helping tens of thousands of people in the upcoming weeks. I am sure they will be glad that we are there.

My husband just told me that the main part of the storm is going straight up to Memphis, Jackson and on to Nashville.
