From the NWS via Weather Underground (the New Orleans NWS site is extremely slow) -

The National Weather Service in New Orleans has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for...
Orleans Parish in southeast Louisiana
this includes the cities of... New Orleans
St. Bernard Parish in southeast Louisiana
this includes the city of Chalmette

* until 215 PM CDT

* a levee breach occurred along the Industrial canal at tennesse
street. 3 to 8 feet of water is expected due to The Breach.

* Locations in the warning include but are not limited to Arabi and
9th Ward of New Orleans.

Do not drive your vehicle into areas where the water covers the
roadway. The water depth may be too great to allow your car to cross
safely. Vehicles caught in rising water should be abandoned quickly.
Move to higher ground.

A Flash Flood Warning means that flooding is imminent or occurring.
If you are in the warning area move to higher ground immediately.
Residents living along streams and creeks should take immediate
precautions to protect life and property. Do not attempt to cross
swiftly flowing waters or waters of unknown depth by foot or by
automobile.

Here are the pictures of the holes in the roof of the dome - they are about 9ft long. - There is 2 holes and they have a blue glow to them in the pictures.

Somewhat. Needs a bigger hole, though.

it's not that the wind is a- blowin' it's WHAT the wind is blowin' if you get hit by a volvo , those 100 sit -ups ya did this mornin' aint gonna help much .

I recall accounts of Hurricane Camille where snakes were flying through the air...They would climb into trees and get blown off them...

This is the link for the technical design details of the Super Dome:

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1472438/posts?page=1504#1504

There is more wrong with the roof than a leaky membrane. I'm seeing daylight on NBC and BW is estimating holes 3'x 5'.

By definition, any component of the SuperDome roof that comes off is going to be fairly massive. However, it may be part of the new roof they put over the old one.

St. Bernard Parish is between New Orleans and Plaquemines Parish. Not good. Don't know if there is enough time during the eye to get those people out of the failing structures.

I'm in Singapore without cable...can anyone provide a link to a good local New Orleans tv station that one can watch on the net?

Don't quote me but several hundred posts ago someone said they all may be down.
