MRE's got a lot better in my time in. In the late 80's they featured such wonderful items and dehydrated pork or beef patties. By the mid-90's, the last time I got to "enjoy" one, they had Chicken Ala King, Spaghetti and Meatballs, and a few other fairly good entries, plus they started throwing in a bottle of tabasco which made anything taste good. :-)

Thanks. This thread goes so fast (and that's a totally secondary trivia item), that it took me a while to pay attention, and actually find that answer...
Well, it's dark and raining in NO now. The peak is still some hours away. I am sure they got a good enough start on it and are out of danger. There might not be much to come back to, but you can bet FedGov will cover much of the losses. It's going to be a year to remember for sure.
