Extremely dangerous Hurricane Katrina is bearing down on the North Central Gulf of Mexico and New Orleans metro area. Thousands of people did not evacuate New Orleans. Outer bands of Katrina are reaching the Louisiana coast.
Due to the size and intensity of this storm, all interests in the North Gulf of Mexico should be in their safe locations.

"Is Landrieu trying to blame Bush yet?"
Last interview I heard with her on Fox she praised the President for declaring an emergency before the fact so things could begin to be done...
Goodness, lighten up.
Louisiana governor just held a press conference on CNN now. Says she is pleased with evacuation thus far. They didn't order a mandatory evacuation until 9:30am CDT, less than twelve hours ago. Traffic jams coming out of New Orleans are massive. Highway cameras showing too many unused lanes.
Did you hear big Tony saying he wants one of the sweets in the superdome?? LOL
Oh no.
If I were stuck in traffic in one of those cars, stuck in traffic on a bridge over open water, I'd be panicking.
All we can do is pray....
Hershey kisses and potato chips....yummy, try them together..
I paid $2.79 a few hours ago in Columbus.
yep, that one will be interesting.
next update in about 5 minutes, I hope.
Naahhh!
Pay no attention to all those war movies. And that old wives tale about a river catching fire .... don't believe it.
[/foolishness]
Brian Williams is in NO? Geez...
Brian Williams sure is trying.
Brian is warning of a city full of toxic waste - he has not mentioned if he is staying all night at the Superdome -
AWESOME pics, thanks.
I knew NBC would end up sending someone there. Couldn't let Fox outdo them. And Brian Williams is their top cheese. Must have a good insurance policy on him.
So someone lights a cigarette, tosses it and ka-pow? So this is not good at all...:(
sw
No, what's that all about?
I just saw the post about $3.96 on Catalina Island... That makes me feel a LITTLE BIT better...
"I didn't understand why Shep was talking about fires and being prepared for a fire."
Broken gas mains.
I laughed this afternoon watching the Mayor sitting in a local NBC affilifate newsroom describing what he was doing. He said, he had talked to the president, to FEMA, the Governor, and listed quite a few others he had talked to on the phone. That's what he's been doing.....talking on the phone.
