If you or your family is in the path of Hurricane Katrina, if you would like to, please "sign in" here so that we can keep track of our people as this storm progresses, especially after the storm has passed.
I drove some supplies down there at the beginning of last week. It was harsh down there. Hardly a peep on the national news about how hard the fishing and ship building industries have been hit, and all the people that lost their homes.
Sorry to hear this gulfcoast6.
LOL.
They're all alive.
Thanks for the concern as well.
We all did fine, and weathered the storm out here in Ponchatoula. House held up well, with only my wood floors warping up 5 days out, as we didn't know the storm had driven the rainwater up over the slab (no flooding) and took that long for the wood to warp.
Got my medical practice back up and running one week later (not counting all the inpatient work during the week of the storm. (had talks with the hospital admins about tying the emergency generators into the AC from now on!)
I actually screwed up and got out and drove to Hammond, east along I-10 when it was even with the eye of the storm. The car took a 100+ mph gust, and almost blew me off the interstate. I thought the worst was past, and the damage didn't look that bad driving in. After making rounds, it took me one hour to drive the 3 miles to my house as all the trees came down towards the end of the storm.
Have been following the health care stories closely; was on notice for MS disaster team until this week.

HA! For now....I'm not sure how long that will last though with all of them living under one roof!
A very joyful welcome back, Maury.
We found our missing family member. His cell phone finally worked. He's in Baton Rouge living with very kind strangers who took him in from a shelter. His house and possessions are totally destroyed, but he is safe. Thanks be to God!
Happy to see you back Maury.
Wiped out in lakeview--staying in Baton Rouge temporarily. Need to relocate now due to both job and home being flooded out.
Thank you for letting us hear from you. Just saw an interview with the mayor of your town on FOX- with a lot of video from the town. Sending prayers for you and your town.
2 weeks 2 late. lol
Oh, that is WONDERFUL news!
I'm so glad to hear you're safe! Thanks for checking in. Nauti Nurse has kept a list of those we haven't heard from and we're delighted the list has shrunk by two names in the last week.
I'm back! Three weeks in Metairie with no internet access. I stayed at my grandma's house and rode out the storm there. I just got back home for good. Man did I miss Freerepublic! I feel like I've been living in a bubble for the past three weeks. I still have little idea about what everyone's been saying about us down here.
As I count it we have 3 FReepers still unaccounted for as of 5:41pm, Saturday, Sept. 17th. I've lost track of their names, so who's got the list where I can say special prayers tonight that we hear from them soon.
