If you or your family is in the path of Hurricane Katrina, if you would like to, please "sign in" here so that we can keep track of our people as this storm progresses, especially after the storm has passed.
Present, Power back on, very tired, going to bed.
It's great to hear from you. Get some rest.
it looks as though four stayed. My husband's sister Margot and her sons James the policeman and another son John, and another of his sisters whose husband decided to stay, Jean. No one has heard, as yet, from these fou, we are still praying they are alright. The more I hear this morning the more I fear New Orleans didn't really dodge the bullet, looks pretty bad there. I will keep all these good folks on this thread in my prayers, especially those most in need of Our Blessed Mother's special prayers to her Son.
Y'all all right down there?
We are all fine here, Howlin. We had some strong winds & power outage for a while yesterday and last night. Lots of pecan tree limbs down. Couldn't get on the internet. But all is well this morning.
I know some have already checked in and some are without power, but I thought I'd do another MS Ping.
Still no power. I drove from Vicksburg to Jackson this moring and did not see a light until I got to work where the generators are on. I could not get a cell signal until I got into Jackson.
Lots of trees and billboards down in this area. Besides still not having power, we came out OK. Prayers for everyone.
Thanks for checking in. Glad you're all right. Prayers for all affected by Katrina!
NerdDad checking in from work.
It was a fun night. We had a tree take out all the wires to our house at about 6 pm. Lost power, cable, and phone. Jerked the power pole at the end of our driveway over to about 60 degrees. Jerked the electric out of the the transformer and the rest off the pole at the street. Set the transformer and pole on fire.
On a funny side note: The volunteer fireman who was standing under the transformer when it blew the fuse turned out to be one fast moving dude.
We relocated to mother in law's house. She had power and cable but she is not an internet user. We had power there until about 11 pm when I actually needed it. I am a sleep apnea patient and require electricity to run my CPAP machine or I either don't sleep or risk dying in my sleep. I told Mrs. NerdDad to stress that when communicating with the power company.
We are all safe. A brief once over at the house did not show any obvious damage. The area has a ton of trees and power lines down.
Talked to son's girlfriends parents on the coast last night. Their house is relatively undamaged as well. They said they were still trying to find several of the casinos and those they could find were either grounded or sinking. Biloxi and Gulfport took a slamming. They need our prayers now and will need our help later.
Put me on the ping list for relief help if we get a group up.
Yikes. Sounds like a fun night. Glad to know you're safe. I expect they'll try to accommodate you and get you some power for your CPAP machine. Or maybe they'll tell you to go somewhere else.
Take care!
BTTT: Sending continued prayers!
Thanks from the bottom of my heart for your prayers and concern. I am safe, as are all my family. We all evacuated Sunday. I brought icons, a gun, family pictures, my cat and dog, and the clothes on my back. Not much more. I expect my home and office to be flooded, as of this morning, and don't know when I'll be allowed to return.
I have been inconvenienced, to say the least, but am not suffering like many innocents who're in the midst of it now. Please remember them in your prayers.
I have no news of Askel, but because she had plans to be out of town anyway, I have good hopes that she did not return to the city on Sunday, and may be staying with family elsewhere.
The going somewhere else is done. We are next door to Mrs. ND's mom. She had power till bedtime last night. Wife called earlier this a.m. and said power was back on there. Our house, OTOH, will likely take a couple days. I do hope that my medical condition will bump me up on their list a bit. I love my mother and sister-in-law but our time together is enhanced by limiting the length of exposure.
My electricity just came on, otherwise OK. Wind was terrible, and lots of trees down over the county, but I was blessed, considering I am surrounded by many large trees.
I am going to read this entire thread now to find out how everybody fared.
If any of y'all know anything about B'ham and/or Gadsden AL area, I sure would appreciate it if you'd let me know. I can't get in touch with my kids over there, and all I've seen on TWC is about Mobile. I know there were warnings of lots of tornadoes over there. Thanks!
Thanking everyone for their concern.
Hope to hear back from you soon. God bless you and Godspeed to YOU.
God bless you and your wife.
