My Father-in-law was OK as of ~10AM CST. They were in a lull, it appears they are spared the worst as they are 35 miles NW of NO. His other son-in-law lives in Metarie, close to the lake P. levee, on the West side. I think it's the southern levees that are breaking, but they are concerned.

Will post again later this afternoon after we hear from them (hopefully) then.

Ted

Rock and roll.

As per local accuweather: http://wwwa.accuweather.com/forecast-current-conditions.asp?partner=townnews&myadc=0&traveler=1&zipcode=39182&metric=0

Branches are falling, wind is only 32 mph with moderate rain, temperature at 76 degrees with the real feel at 71 degrees. :)

I am shutting down to take a nap *smile* and hope I can get back on line a little later. I think this might be the worst we'll get and it's nothing to complain or worry about.

Prayers and best wishes for the less fortunate.

There was a link to the video on another thread. I downloaded it and have been enjoying a tension relieving laugh with my fellow cube-bound this morning.

Hey Spiff, love what you're doing with the graphic. Stick a pin in me in Columbus MS.
We've been notified that if we are gonna stay in our double-wide tonight, that we should tie on our toe tags before bed time.

Checking in from work where all is well for now. Just wet & windy. Wish I could take that nap that onyx is going to take.

We had a computer installer supposedly flying in to put in our new Library automation system today. All that got cancelled. Flight into Jackson got cancelled & there are no rooms at the inns along I-20. Have had several evacuees in our library today trying to find out info about their homes, etc. I am so thankful our internet connections are ok so we can keep up-to-date on the storm progress.

Thanks, Spiff, for the special work and to everybody for their extra prayers and concerns.

Updated image in Post #337. A number of people to the North or West of the storm have checked in. No one has checked in from the storm's track. Blue Scourge's wife called him while she was still in danger from the storm and she may still be. Her location bore the brunt of the storm and I hope she's OK.

Well, we left last night around 6:30 PM before the conditions deteriorated. Our electricity had gone out 3 times that afternoon from just a slight breeze! I'm not a good camper, I suppose! We drove to Plano, TX to stay with my sister and family. It took us 12 hours and we didn't have many traffic problems at all. Not sure when we are headed back as we found out (while evacuating) that my husband's grandmother passed away. Guess we'll fly up to KC from DFW...
Prayers for all of you who stayed around for Katrina!

I'm sure they are fine. I tried to get onyx and got no answer, but I know she's there. :-)

Thank you, but I won't feel good until all of the FReepers are accounted for. We've got a long way to go before that happens. In the last hour, all I've heard is that LA Woman3 bugged out before the storm and is OK. I didn't update her entry on the map, I removed it since she's not there anymore. It's good to hear she is OK. I'm worried most about those who were directly in the storm's path. We haven't heard from any of them yet.
