If you or your family is in the path of Hurricane Katrina, if you would like to, please "sign in" here so that we can keep track of our people as this storm progresses, especially after the storm has passed.
They are lucky to have you.
We'll find them -- or we'll send out a search party!
I;m in Auburn, AL. We're having the outside bands. We've had two tornados touch down already and sporadic rain is expected throughout the evening and night. So far so good (as the man said falling past floor 24 of a 27 story building).
nola61 high and dry. evacuated to Texas. Need info on Mid-City or Carrollton Ave. and Canal Street area. Thanks.
I'm in NC, too!
And I'm keeping an eye on TS-13!
I've heard from my in-laws outside Hattiesburg In Lamar Co. lots of trees down, no power but safe.
I just got off the phone with a neighbor. She said our house was fine. Most of the fences in our neighborhood blew down, but we didn't have a fence.
We will definitely stay in Columbus. We are next door to MIL. If it looks too ugly at bedtime we will probably bed down at her place. I don't really want to do that cuz MIL doesn't like our dogs and I don't want to leave them in a place where I'm not willing to stay.
We took a pine tree across the beam of the house a couple years ago. Deeply traumatized the dogs so they get nervous and noisy at the slightest thunder.
Did about 30K damage to a 55K house. Took 3 months to repair. I tried like he!! to get the insurance adjuster to total the place but he wouldn't.
No promblemo! :)
Thank God for you, LA! I know this has been a harrowing experience for you; you sure got initiated with a Big One, huh?
I heard your good Governor Haley Barbour on FOX News Radio this morning. :)
I was on my way to town shortly after noon here, and listened to the top of the hour FOX News Radio report. Heard part of the Superdome peeled off and it was leaking in two places. I was kinda of afraid that might happen when I was watching the coverage last night.
Yes, it was quite the experience to say the least! Thanks for everyone on the hurricane threads for all the information, support and prayers!
I just got out of class today (at Ole Miss)(Southern Miss and MS State did not have classes today). The rain is starting to come down and it is starting to get breezy in Oxford.
I just got off the phone with my parents in Petal, MS. They said it is really bad there. Dad said parts of the roof were blowing off and the house was starting to leak in parts and blew a tree over in the backyard.
I am in school with a lot of people have houses on Highway on the beach. I'm sure that they are all flooded. I feel so sorry for them. As bad as it is in Petal, I can only image having a beachhouse.
How thoughtful of you to do this.. thanks!!! and of course prayers for all those spots on the map that represent loved ones ..
Just got word from my cousin --- they're safe and sound, but Collins, MS is a mess with trees snapped everywhere and power out since 8:30 am. She won't be able to get back to her home in Seminary until tomorrow at the earliest.
I'm just a few miles from you, NerdDad. I can sympathize about the dogs. My daughter wanted me to come to Birmingham, but I'm not about to abandon my four dogs. Three of them are terrified as it is, with only the rain and some wind (not too bad yet). One of them, however, doesn't really care, and will sleep through anything!
Just found this thread, Howlin. I've been lurking on the live thread all day and haven't seen anything else until now. Thanks for starting it, though; great idea.
Gulfcoast 6 was in Saucier MS ...north of Gulfport....and he hasn't checked in since last night.
