By 10 am tomorrow the sustained winds will be above 30 mph. They will be around 50 by 4 pm and stay in the 50-60 mph range through the overnight hours with higher gusts. Rain over 2 inches.

Prejean's is indeed still there and doing a booming business. I was there only two weeks ago and had a particularly damned tasty catfish etouffee.

When Rush Limbaugh was down here on his "Rush to Excellence" tour 15 years ago he recorded a radio spot for Prejean's that still gets regular play on the local talk station. The Maharushie assures us in this spot that "all food at Prejean's has agreed to be served as food" and that you can expect to find "alligator dishes to die for -- after all, they did!"

Sunny and warm in South-central Alabama with a rising breeze. It feels really nice. I can see a line of high clouds to the South. It's the outer bands of the storm. I was just out mowing the lawn. I have about five acres of grass to cut and my garden tractor with the 50" belly mower is broke. I'm mowing with the 21' Sears push mower. Well, there's nothing like exercise!

Anyway--just in case--brought the generator and chain saw up to the house and am going out to fill the gas cans at $2.49/gal. Better than $3.50 after the storm.

Reporting from Panama City, FL.....we are staying put and are expecting rain, a little wind, and a water surge. Water already covers our dock and is about 5 feet into the yard. I am 150 feet from the water and the house is 4 feet off the ground so we will be safe. (Ivan and Dennis came up about 45 feet into the yard.)
My thoughts and prayers go out to Freepers in the path of Katrina!! Be safe!!

My daughter is stationed at Eglin Air Force Base in Fort Walton Beach, Florida. While not in the direct path of the storm right now, they are experiencing SEVERE beach erosion due to the extremely high waves (according to TWC)...

Prayers for all - may God have mercy!

This thread's an excellent idea- I see a lot of names I know in lifacs #169. This storm is going to be a real nail-biter... we're fine on the Georgia coast, I wish I could say the same for all those in harm's way. God have mercy.
