Extremely dangerous Hurricane Katrina is bearing down on the North Central Gulf of Mexico. Mandatory evacuation of New Orleans is finally underway. Louisiana officials are warning of complete failure to levy systems, and pleading with people to leave low lying areas. For those who choose to stay, they are recommending picks and axes for breaking through to access their roofs during flooding.
Due to the size and intensity of this storm, all interests in the North Gulf of Mexico should be rushing hurricane preparations to completion.

Oh hon. That must be an awful thought.
Wind speed DOWN to 165 MPH...
The more prayerful are sitting in church.
I haven't heard from him.
True, but it's a tall structure made of reinforced concrete. As long as the roof doesn't blow off (and the bad news is the ticket windows face the beach), he should be good to go.
Shep is on Bourbon St...says crowds are getting larger...people drinking and partying. Unbelievable. Darwin award winners, all. Eye to make landfall at 7AM tomorrow.
yeah but not too many.
Shep Smith reporting right now about all the people still partying in bars, he's right on Bourban St. and says people all over the place, none evacuating!! Amazing!
bar patron just uses the f-word to Shep - it is not bleeped!
F bomb dropped on Fox News. Please don't sue people!
They just reported that the crowds on Bourbon St are growing and people are partying down.
Man, if it were me, I'd want to be stone sober, and get drunk after it passes.
Shep just told to mind his own f'ing business in the bar.
I remember the hurricane parties before Camille. Lots of the people attending weren't around to see what really happened. Drunk in a hurricane is a really bad idea.
Shep's interviewee just dropped the f-bomb on live TV.
They say that the danger in a tornado is the sudden change of pressure as the funnel tracks over a house. The house will inflate and blow its boards all over the yard like it has exploded. The hurricane might have the same wind, but the change in pressure isn't so intense. The danger from flying objects would be the same.
Some idiot just used the F word on Fox...
I just came back today from visiting my brother in Stone Harbor NJ. We played in the surf with my eleven-year old great nephew. We were body surfing and the waves were coming in at only about 4 feet and they knocked me senseless a few times. Thats just good fun but the ocean is a powerful force and the force of the ocean and hurricanes and the storm surges they produce need to be respected.
My prayers go out to the people in this storms path and for the emergency personnel who will deal with the storms effects during and after.
While I hope it is media hype, I fear that that time has run out and the evitable worst-case scenario could come to fruition this time a major urban city, sitting below sea level with an old infrastructure and a lot of tourists; complacent residents and a good number of poor and homeless without either the sense or means to get out of the way.
ROFLMAO..........that was too dang funny!
Looks like "March of the Pengiuns."
Not trying to be flip, I really liked the movie.
