Rev. Al Sharpton plans to join 'Peace Mom'

NEW YORK - The Rev. Al Sharpton plans to join peace activist Cindy Sheehan, known as the Peace Mom, on Sunday near President Bush's Texas ranch.

Sharpton's office said Thursday he would participate in a prayer vigil Sunday with Sheehan in Crawford, Texas. Sheehan returned on Wednesday to Camp Casey, named after her 24-year-old son, Army Spc. Casey Sheehan, who was killed last year in Iraq.

Sheehan began her vigil on the road leading to Bush's ranch Aug. 6, vowing to stay through his monthlong vacation unless he met with her. She left last week to visit her 74-year-old mother, who had suffered a stroke, in Los Angeles.

Sheehan's protest in Crawford has encouraged anti-war activists to join her and prompted peace vigils nationwide. But Sheehan continues to draw harsh criticism from those who support the U.S. effort in Iraq.

Sheehan plans to leave Crawford at the end of August and embark on a bus tour ending in Washington, D.C., on Sept. 24.

The facilities at the Crawford Ranch Camp Casey are excellent: good food, shade, tents, water, toilets, parking, and all basic necessities are there in ample supply. Most supplies are free. All you need to bring is yourself, a good shade hat, and a long-sleeved shirt.

Sharpton is pure human garbage.It boggles the mind that anyone still takes him seriously. Jessie is worse. I had the pleasure of refusing to shake Jackson's hand a few years ago. he was pissed . The DU is going to push this Sheehan thing to the ultimate limit. I''m in Europe right now ( Amsterdam ) and it's big news here / problem is the news coverage of Sheehan is total biased anti war , anti American . Not ONE person I met here knew her REAL story or that she even met Bush once before. The news is VERY filtered here..ER must keep fighting for the truth .
