Impressive rant, but Rush neveer answered the guy's question. Why DON'T more CEO's politicians, etc. have kids in uniform?

I thought he did answer the question:

"Why didn't the president's daughters go? It's a volunteer force! The president didn't "send" Cindy Sheehan's son over there; he volunteered."

Our legislators have made the armed forces a volunteer effort. Perhaps the question might be better phrased: Why don't more 'senator's sons' volunteer for military service as a career choice?

And now I'm wondering just how many young adult children we are talking about? I doubt Ted Kennedy or Pat Leahy have kids that are the usual age for military service.

Impressive rant, but Rush neveer answered the guy's question. Why DON'T more CEO's politicians, etc. have kids in uniform? A few do, but most don't. No matter what your position on the war, that's a valid question IMHO.

It's easy to put a yellow magnet on your car and say "I support the troops." But for too many people that's as far as it goes.

Agreed. One thing I've noticed on the show, and it has happened to me when I've called in, when it's a chance to make a point, and one that is uncomfortable for him to handle or he's left himself open, he's dispatched the caller into neverland.

While this caller may have been your typical liberal lefty, there are some questions that in a give and take dialog could be discussed, explored and dealt with that would be interesting and educational. Instead, we get a slam dunk one sided close. There are some real loons that get on his show and there are some "seminar callers". But then again, listen to AAR and the same thing happens, loons and seminar callers from the right. But there are questions that need or should be dealt with in a dialog.

Again, I've heard too many interesting callers be gone once Rush goes into his "I will have the final word rant."

"Are your lives so endless, baseless, and void of substance that the only pleasure you get from life is through watching the misery of others and trying to cause misery for others? Are you so incapable of enjoying the God-given gift of life that you've got, that you can only do so when other people are suffering, hopefully as a result of actions you've taken? What must it be like to be you people? What must it be like to get up every day and to have to go to your calendar and write "Destroy somebody today. Destroy something today. "

My thoughts exactly. I was thinking today that these people love death, killing innocent unborn, destroy everthing good about America, including our brave young men and women that fight for us every day. They are no different than the terrorists (which includs ALL groups that want death and destruction of people that refuse to goose step behind their mindless ideology.

There is a cult in the world today. It is so massive and deadly that it can only be masterminded and driven by the evil one himself, Satan. anyone that thinks this is about some pathetic woman in Crawford is sorely misguided. This is world wide and very dangerous.

I see your point and I think he answered it by repeating that the military is a voluntary service - it has less to do with who the parents are than it has to do with the actual person joining.

I wonder if we go by straight percentages would the numbers come out the same? I mean, take the total US population and what percentage of families have children serving in the armed forces. THEN, take the total number of whatever group your targeting (CEO's and/or politicians) and what percentage of those have children serving in the armed forces. I'd venture to guess the percentages are similar, but I'm no statistician or anthropologist.... Maybe someone somewhere has done this math?

How many families in your neighborhood have a son or daughter in Iraq? What is the ratio of congressmen with sons/daughters in the military to the general population? Do you have a son or daughter in Iraq?

Frankly, the question was typical left-wing, anti-war rhetoric from the same mold as CCR's whiny "Fortunate Son". I am surprised you cannot see it.

I heard several days ago on another radio program that 1% of legislators have sons and daughters in the military which is twice as much as the general population (.5%). Sorry don't remember the program and can't verify that info.

Yup. There's nothing in that speech that's really going to help anyone here answer hostile questions like the one he was asked, stuff along the lines of "When I watch the news from Iraq, where are the children of people like Hillary Clinton and George Bush?" - talk about a "volunteer army" just dodges the question, I expect an Arny recruiter would be delighted if Chelsea or Jenna walked through the door.

Pure unadulterated crap!

A "volunteer" Army does not equate to volunteering to go to Iraq.

How many "volunteers" are we getting these days?

Why are there efforts afoot to raise the recruitment age for all services to AGE FORTY-TWO?

Just saw this quite on drudge by Osama Cindy:

"We are not waging a war on terror in this country. We’re waging a war of terror. The biggest terrorist in the world is George W. Bush!"

Full transcript: WARNING: Extreme Liberal Profanity !

"We are not waging a war on terror in this country. We’re waging a war of terror. The biggest terrorist in the world is George W. Bush!"

So declared Cindy Sheehan earlier this year during a rally at San Francisco State University.

Sheehan, who is demanding a second meeting with Bush, stated: "We are waging a nuclear war in Iraq right now. That country is contaminated. It will be contaminated for practically eternity now."

Sheehan unleashed a foul-mouth tirade on April 27, 2005:

"They’re a bunch of fucking hypocrites! And we need to, we just need to rise up..." Sheehan said of the Bush administration.

"If George Bush believes his rhetoric and his bullshit, that this is a war for freedom and democracy, that he is spreading freedom and democracy, does he think every person he kills makes Iraq more free?"

"The whole world is damaged. Our humanity is damaged. If he thinks that it’s so important for Iraq to have a U.S.-imposed sense of freedom and democracy, then he needs to sign up his two little party-animal girls. They need to go to this war."

"We want our country back and, if we have to impeach everybody from George Bush down to the person who picks up dog shit in Washington, we will impeach all those people."

END

Osama And Wife Escaping.jpg (20244 bytes)  Osama and Cindy to the rescue !

This is what you volunteer for. Thats what you get paid for, thats where the benefits come from. If there is a conflict while your are in, your are called up it does not get any simpler than that OKAY?? Here is the OATH as follows. I took it more than 30 years ago.

I, ___________________________________, do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed overme, according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice. So help me God.

Wait a minute here. One of my friends was a colonel in Iraq, another friend's son is a Navy SEAL stationed who knows where, a third friend's son is a Marine sniper just finishing his second tour in Iraq. My 16 year old son is not in Iraq, neither is my 35 year old police officer son, but I am mighty offended at your assertion that all my friends and I do is put a yellow magnet on our cars.

If they walked through the door, with them would be Secret Service agents along to protect them from being kidnapped and held hostage, being taken and tortured(including raped) on video, ditto having their heads chopped off, or being assassinated on the spot, because of who their parents are and what they mean to America. Wake up. So they could just join the military and bop over to serve in Iraq??? I don't think so. In fact, I KNOW not so.
