President Bush and the first lady continue their stay at their ranch in Crawford Texas where they are based for the month of August.
Though this is a time of relaxation and recharging of the batteries he continues to conduct governmental business from what has been dubbed the western White House.
As I have been unable to find any photos for today I am posting a special that I have put together contrasting the campaign style of the President and Vice President in regard to babies and young children and their adult children.
There are a some heart warming photos mainly from last year election campaign though I have included other photos which are not specifically election events but are relevant to the subject
On Saturday the President threw the first pitch in a Little League Base Ball game at Marvin Norcross Stadium Waco, Texas, he attended the game with the First Lady and Secretary of State Condi Rice (notice the friendly reference to Secretary Rice in the quote of the day I suspect seeing as this was a cause dear to his heart and he was relaxed hence the informal reference to the Secretary of State personally I thought it was rather heart warming).
Enjoy your visit to Sanity Island

Yep! Still around. I kind of pop in and out all day, some days more than others.
How have you been?

Thank you for your great job this evening notwithstanding the dearth of current photos. The theme of children with the president and vice president was a splendid idea. Next we must have a dose featuring the presidential dogs. Where is Barney? Hiding in the shade probably.

It IS amazing that Newsweek actually said something good about our President. It was a pleasure to read.
I'm really very proud of him and honored that he is our President. I was surprised that Newsweek actually ran this story.

That poor woman needs some psychological help, and now! Her other son is begging her to come home. Her husband has filed for divorce. Her only friends now are a bunch of hippie left overs whose entire focus in life is hating President Bush. She will suffer a complete mental and emotional breakdown within a few months if she keeps up the pace she is.

Snagged!LOL! Snag 'em or lose 'em. They disappear quickly into Yahoo's archives.
I also like that one of Phil Mickelson talking on the phone with GWB. Dubya is a golf fan, and he has a close relationship with several high-profile pro golfers. President Bush must have been watching the rain-delayed (from yesterday) PGA final rounds this morning in order to call Mickelson while the latter was still on the golf course.

Yes, we had a terrific summer...mostly just hanging out. But we did spend a fun couple of weeks at my in-laws helping them on some home improvement projects. I am a complete sucker for those. They are really a vacation for me!
Since I've been home, we've been painting the kitchen and main bathroom in our house and, well, just having fun. Of course my list of "stuff to do this summer" is only about half done, and we only have about two weeks left.
That said, I think the shine has worn off the whole concept of "summer" (I HATE August) and we're all looking forward to school starting again!
Oh, and I was sad to see Amy's Place go. I didn't post there, but I did enjoy lurking. It was always so upbeat, which is nice when I get a little miffed now and then. ; p. You know, a perspective keeper.
Well, I'm off to tuck the little one in bed (these summer hours have got to stop!) so I'm off for now. It was fun to run into you! Hope you have a terrific evening.

Thanks Snugs - great photos and I'm sure it was a lot of work for you to put all of this together.
One thing I've noticed as I've followed the Pres and VP before the 2000 election is that the girls are dressed like little girls should be IMHO. I so appreciate that after seeing some of the things children wear. I applaud Liz for that (I suspect an outfit or 2 came from Grandma Lynne, too ;-)

I LOVE DUBYA!!!! (I haven't said that in a while so I thought I'd remind everyone.) How's everyone doing? Is anyone still here?

Sheehan is a moron and shows a very ugly side to our political opponents. To debate is fine...to accuse of atrocities and as if Bush is alone a monster when her own representative very likely voted for the measures that puts us where we are today shows the dishonesty oozing from her putrid mouth.

I didn't realize that Barbara and Jenna were that much taller than Laura! They must have the Bush genes for that height, since their Dad, Uncle Jeb, and Poppy are on the tall side.
