President Bush and the first lady continue their stay at their ranch in Crawford Texas where they are based for the month of August.
Though this is a time of relaxation and recharging of the batteries he continues to conduct governmental business from what has been dubbed the western White House.
As I have been unable to find any photos for today I am posting a special that I have put together contrasting the campaign style of the President and Vice President in regard to babies and young children and their adult children.
There are a some heart warming photos mainly from last year election campaign though I have included other photos which are not specifically election events but are relevant to the subject
On Saturday the President threw the first pitch in a Little League Base Ball game at Marvin Norcross Stadium Waco, Texas, he attended the game with the First Lady and Secretary of State Condi Rice (notice the friendly reference to Secretary Rice in the quote of the day I suspect seeing as this was a cause dear to his heart and he was relaxed hence the informal reference to the Secretary of State personally I thought it was rather heart warming).

Marvin Norcross Stadium
Waco, Texas - 13th August 2005
THE PRESIDENT: Thank you all for the warm welcome. Welcome to Texas. Steve, thank you very much for inviting me. Mayor DuPuy, thank you very much for being such a gracious host for this important regional tournament. It's great to see you. I'm proud to be here, by the way, with the mayor of Crawford, Texas. Mayor David Posten. Mr. Mayor, it's good to see you. Laura and I are really thrilled to be here.
Before I say something about the families here, I do want to thank the Pride of the Blue, the Robinson High School Band, for being here. (Applause.) I particularly want to say to the coaches of both teams, thanks for setting such a good example, thanks for taking time out of your lives to help these young men understand the importance of teamwork and sportsmanship and hard work.
To the families who are here, thank you very much for supporting your Little Leaguer. Thanks for taking time out of your life to set such a good example for them and show them the love and compassion that is necessary. And to the players, congratulations to you. You've worked hard to get here. Laura and I and Condi are looking forward to seeing a great game. We wish you all the very best.
Play hard, play fair, play to win. God bless you all and may God continue to bless our great country. Thank you very much. (Applause.)

Good Evening snugs, and thanks for all you do!
As there are no or very few new photos today I decided to do a special. My theme today is children (babies) and politics and to contrast the 2 very different styles and IMHO views that the President and Vice President have with childrens role in politics and in particular their own children.
The President has always tried to keep his children away from the media and his political career and it was only when he daughters insisted in getting involved last year in his re-election campaign that one saw them regularly out on the campaign trail with him or the first lady.
The Vice President on the other hand has from his first campaign as a candidate for Congress in Wyoming back in the 70s actively encouraged, some might say insisted that his children and now grandchildren are involved on the road with him and his wife Lynne. Lynne summed up their point of view the best rather than having a nanny or babysitter watch them at home she felt it was better they were on the road with their parents and she felt this did them no harm and in fact made them closer as a family. This now has been passed on by their mother Liz Cheney Perry to her children who were seen on the road with their parents and grandparents thoughout the mid and latter part of the campaign last year.
The President is often seen holding, kissing and cuddling very young babies and children whilst the Vice President does not baby hug yet was constantly seen on the road with his grandchildren and his interaction with them shows that he is as comfortable and obvioiusly loves children as much as the President does but IMHO does not want to seen kissing and cuddling babies and young children unless they are his grand children. There are a couple of photos though from his Asian tour in 2003 that show that he genuinely does like children the way he smiles at the girl at the airport is a prime example.
The Vice President is obviously a wonderful grandfather and ensures despite the obvious difficulties shows that they have a true grandparent relationship with him and as normal childhood as possible. They camp at the Naval Observatory (VP Official residence) on the floor of their grandparents bedroom with sleeping bags along with the dogs Dave and Jackson. What wonderful stories these children will have in later life of sleep overs at Vice Presidents Resisdance. Lynne also told the nation on the IMUS radio show on inaulgation day that if the grand children want food after 8.00pm that it is Dick they go to and get round for him to either peel an apple or pop corn for them how they will remember that with fondness and wonder later in life.
The President as yet does not have grand children but has shown on the campaign trail that he has a natural affinity with small children. IMHO if he did have grand children I some how doubt that you would have seen them out and about as one did with the Cheney grand children contrasting the styles of the 2 men. One I believe feels that the whole family should be involved and that it forms part of the development as a person to be involved fully in what their parents passionately believe in whilst the Persident and his wife I think have shown that there child rearing is more on the lines of allowing their children more free rein, independence and privacy and although thrilled and delighted that during his last campaign ever his children volunteered to work on the campaign but never expected it.
The Vice President IMHO due to how he and Lynne raised their children would feel it was only natural that Lynne Chenery Perry resigned her position at the State Department to work full time on the campaign and along with her sister Mary who though not seen much upfront played a major role behind the sences on his re-election campaign.
Whilst on the campaign trail theVice President is not seen hugging or kissing babies or children in fact only briefly his own though it is obvious from the interaction he loves them deeply and his daughter confirmed in a TV interview shortly before the elecetion that in private he is very similar to the man you see in public except there are a lot of hugs so although not demononstrative in public he is affectionate in private.
The President on the other hand cannot resist in public hugging, kissing almost tossing in the air babies and small children they were seen all the time on the campaign trail and continue to be visable at at various venues he attend promoting his policies. Some cynics may say this is all political and is a show I do not subscribe to this view. You can see genuine love and enjoyment when he interacts with the very young he obviously will make a wonderful grand dad. He loves the contact with these children and it is incidental to him that by doing so this portrays him as loving and kindly grandfather or fatherly figure.
Enjoy the following heart warming photos of the President and Vice President with children and babies. Amongst the photos are ones of the President with his now grown up children on the campaign trail last year which shows the love he portrays with small children and obviously had for them as babies and younger children is still live and well and evident from the way they interact with him.
These photos show how these 2 wonderful men and their families love children which after all are the foundation of our lives and hopes for the future God Bless them both and their wonderful example of family and maritial love in this turberlent world full of child and spouse abuse of children growing up without mother or fathers and where divorce and separation in family life is so common place it is now considered the norm.
Please feel free to post your own favourites as well.
God Bless your President and Vice President and your wonderful Country God Bless America.

The President and babies
God bless President Bush.
On the other hand his grandchildren and children represent a very important role in his election campaigns.
Hi snugs .... love the baby pictures .. thanks!
The following a few photos from the campaign trail which show the close relationship that the President has with both his children.
Jenna shows she has her dads love of babies as well
How many toasters do you have ? Ha. # 3 ! pretty good for a one who ususally doesn't get to it until 100+ post. It's nice to end up day with this thread. :)
yeayyyyy!
And of course, this one (2001 World Series) --
...where he nailed the strike zone:
I'm embarrassed to say.
At the VP debate in Cleveland Ohio
Liz, Mary and her partner Heather
Lizs family with her parents at the RNC
On the eve of the election both The President and Vice President were at rallies which were very much family affairs
Though to young to vote Dick Cheneys grand daughter Kate accompanied him to vote in Jackson Hole Wyoming once again I would suspect the VP would see this is an important part in her education and development.
Both the Cheney and Bush families celebrate at the Victory Rally at the Ronald Reagan Building in Washington
There are many other photos I could have used but I think these give you a flavour of the Bush and Cheney families and their commitment to each other and the country they love and serve.
I finish with a photo of the President Laura and the Vice President and Lynne
Please enjoy these and post any favourites of your own.
snugs, what a wonderful essay and collection of photos. I think you have pegged each man exactly right. Thanks so much for your effort this evening!
