The Heart of Texas Chapter of FreeRepublic.com is holding a rally in Crawford, Texas today to show America's support for our troops, President Bush and the war on terrorists in Iraq, Afghanistan and elsewhere around the world.
The rally will be held at noon at the Crawford Civic Center at 1000 4th Street.
Freepers are coming from near and far to join the H.O.T. Chapter in Crawford. If you live within four hours drive of Crawford, it's not too late to hit the road and get on down there.
Folks in attendance will be calling in to me, Brad's Gramma and Jeff Head with live updates from the scene. I am told that cellphone coverage in Crawford is spotty. However, it may have gotten better of late.
We'll see.
Hat's off to Basil, Doctor Raoul, The Sarce and 2ndAmendmentMama (and anyone else) who've been scrambling the past two days to make this happen. Good luck!
Ping
Thanks!
UPDATES ON CINDY SHEEHAN VISIT TO CRAWFORD

(Reverse Time Order More Recent Entries Toward Top)5:35 p.m.
Nathan Diebenow reporting for The Iconoclast:
The pro-Bush counter-protestors left Houston at 5 a.m. and arrived at Crawford around 10 a.m. at Camp Casey. The event was organized by members of FreeRepublic.com.
Marine mother Gale Muskiet of Houston estimated that there were 400 in her group that lined up in support of Bush hoping to catch a glimpse of him as he drove on Prairie Chapel Road. The group left there reportedly after 12:30 p.m. for the parking lot of Pirate Field in Crawford. Many of the members of the group had to walk halfway because of traffic congestion.
At the counter-protest rally four Marine moms spoke in support of President Bush and the war on terrorism saying that the United States must stay the course and that their children chose to join the military of their own free will.
There was a member of the group that dressed up like the Statue of Liberty.
The military moms present were Gale Muskiet, Julie Swain, Ann Semien, and Linda Prince.
When asked if more counter-protest groups will be coming this week, Muskiet said, "If she's willing to continue on her campaign, I would hope the American people would say enough is enough and take a pro-active response."
Linda Prince of Centerville questioned the use of the memorial crosses at Camp Casey with the names of the servicemen who died in Iraq because not all of them or their families would agree with Sheehan's views on ending the Iraq war immediately.
Dr. Raoul Deming, a member of FreeRepublic.com, called the pro-peace demonstrators un-American because, he said, the host organizations have ties with communists.
I just heard Fox News cable say that they will be covering the counter protests in Crawford, TX at the bottom of the hour. That would be 7:30 eastern. I hope some here will be able to get a few screen captures. bttt
Tuned in now...
If someone is willing to post some pictures of the Freeper Rally in Crawford on this thread, I can PM the link to you.
Not sure how to post pictures and don't have the time to learn right now :-)
Had a good time. Our first Freeper Rally.
I'm thinking (Now this just a rough guess) somewhere between 98.774 and 99.993%. Of course it could be higher, I doubt it's lower.
bttt
While the priest at my parish does not speak of these types of things, a dear friend of mine who is a priest is very supportive of the troops when we have private conversations.
We have spoke of Sheehan and he feels that she is now being used by people with other agendas.
He also says that she is not progressing in her grief process because they are holding her in that anger and hate stage.
Well, ya'll made the lead story on most of the local stations in Central Texas but it seems like most simply used the story from CBS/NBC/ABC. The story on my local station, which is a CBS affiliate, had a 20-30 second blurb about the pro-Bush supporters and then 5 minutes about the barking moonbat woman including how Bush "turned away from the Crosses and Stars of David along he road as he drove by" and running her current anti-Bush commercial in its entirety.
Apparently from this morning. Nothing about this afternoons pro-US, pro-solider demonstrations.
Fox Newswatch started their show today with the 'cindy' story - not up to date with anything about today. Cal and Jim did point out that she has already met with W.
Thanks. I don't remember where I got it now -- maybe from the Federalist.
Marine mother Gale Muskiet of Houston estimated that there were 400 in her group that lined up in support of Bush...And from the Associated Press:
That sounds about right, in "Million Mom March" math...Associated Press
CRAWFORD, Texas - More than 250 supporters of President Bush gathered today across the road from anti-war demonstrators, waving American flags and carrying signs.
They are responding to Cindy Sheehan's protest, which started a week ago today outside Bush's ranch.
No confrontations were reported as sheriff's deputies kept the groups separated.
The MSM reports HALF of our actual numbers, and TEN TIMES the moonbats numbers.
Thanks.
That's a great article by Kathleen Parker that shows how Cindy Sheehan has been taken over by the left-wing Bush-haters and how the President has no choice now but NOT to meet (again) with her.
NICE GOING, FREEPERS!!!
Great pics. You go, guys!
If no one has answered you yet, let me know, OK? I can help out.
Thanks for all the updates, Jeff!!
