The Heart of Texas Chapter of FreeRepublic.com is holding a rally in Crawford, Texas today to show America's support for our troops, President Bush and the war on terrorists in Iraq, Afghanistan and elsewhere around the world.
The rally will be held at noon at the Crawford Civic Center at 1000 4th Street.
Freepers are coming from near and far to join the H.O.T. Chapter in Crawford. If you live within four hours drive of Crawford, it's not too late to hit the road and get on down there.
Folks in attendance will be calling in to me, Brad's Gramma and Jeff Head with live updates from the scene. I am told that cellphone coverage in Crawford is spotty. However, it may have gotten better of late.
We'll see.
Hat's off to Basil, Doctor Raoul, The Sarce and 2ndAmendmentMama (and anyone else) who've been scrambling the past two days to make this happen. Good luck!
Kudos to all who attended today's rally. The photos are great!

Welcome to Free Republic, freeperkiki !
FREEDOM ISN'T FREE. Thank you CASEY!
I'm having breakfast as we speak!
:)
My daughter's bringing pizza home soon. I have faith. Soon.
Awesome pictures. My heart was with all of you though I couldn't be there. The pictures made me cry almost, because of the love that FReepers show the troops--my son is a Captain in the Air Force. God bless all of you who were there supporting the President and giving honor to the troops!

The memorial to Casey seems to have a good response. Lets not let it dissapate. I'll donate to. Anybody got any ideas on where and how to have it done.
Great pics! Thank you!
Welcome to Free Republic :-)
Thanks, Deport! I called every ____ in the Houston phone book, and amazingly spoke with the most lovely elderly lady with the same last name. (That's why I'm omitting the exact name.)
She is in her 90's and just lost her husband. They were married 74 years! We immediately struck up a fast friendship and she told me if she had a chair to sit in and some strong sunglasses she'd want to join the protest today. She said, "That crazy woman doesn't know what she's talking about!"
I promised to call her and visit with her in the future. You can bet I will!
Please do...these pics are for all of us to share...whatever it takes to send the truth...and I do hope someone's got a way to send these to the troops!
i tried to watch the video...but it keeps saying I have to download a program to be able to see it. I have hit the download link several times, and it says I have successfully downloaded the program...but each time I try to watch it, it still gives me that message.
Anyone else have that problem? If so, did you figure it out to be able to watch the video?
Supported her old priest, one of 9 in the diocese (who were asked to withdraw their signatures by our bishop) in their signed petition with other ecumenical clergy in the area in support of Gay and Lesbian affairs. He resigned as priest last year, because he refused to withdraw his name.
(and no, she is not gay)
Is trying to get the new young priest to "loosen up" there...His masses are not upbeat enough. He recently brought back the bells during the Consecration, and brought back the tabernacle behind the altar (that upset the "EM"s...), and...*gasp!*...actually recites some Latin during the Consecration!
"We can't 'go back' to pre-Vat II...The Church must move 'forward." Her comment..."it's OUR Church, not his! A shepherd should lead, not 'brow-beat!'"
"The mass is a 'celebration.'" I responded, "Isn't it 'a sacrifice?" She responded, "it's a 'celebration of the sacrifice.'"
Then there was the Bush bashing, how she thought that it was wrong for the Church to use abortion as a "litmus" test for every candidate, and because "we can't have "Bush's version of religion', that's not right" (as opposed to Kerry's???)
I had to say (as I was treating her, so I had to be "sympathetic") that The Church has to stand by what they teach, that God must come first, before politics, ect...she didn't agree when it came to a politician..."they represent everyone".
I said, "Okay, agreed. But will that matter come judgment day?"
I got no answer.
