The Real Censors in Schools Today
WorldnetDaily.com ^ | 8-10-05 | Joseph Farah

Ironically, it is only now, in today's America – 80 years after the famed 1925 "monkey trial" – that the scary specter of censorship and persecution raised by "Inherit the Wind" is actually occurring. Just like in the movie, intolerant guardians of sacred orthodoxy are persecuting high school science teachers. Keepers of the faith – gravely offended at the slightest challenge – insist on unquestioning adherence to the accepted teachings, shunning and persecuting any who dare to buck the established order. Freedom of academic inquiry is unwelcome.

But in a bizarre twist, in 2005 it is the evolutionists who are the agitated defenders of orthodoxy. And it is science teachers – at least those who dare to inform their students of any fact or evidence that tends to contradict or undermine the evolution theory – that are today's "John Scopes."

What a bunch of flapdoodle.

No design including "intelligent design proponents" can be intelligent.

The ACLU keeps coming up.

Keepers of the faith – gravely offended at the slightest challenge – insist on unquestioning adherence to the accepted teachings, shunning and persecuting any who dare to buck the established order.

Sounds like mainland China

Didn't think we'd get through the night without an ID post. And this one is even worse than usual.

Sorry, Coyoteman can't come out and play tonight. BS meter is pegged.

Yep, you pegged it right on. The pseudo-science evolutionists can't bear an argument on what they teach.

What matters to me is what happens when you are 28 and go to present a project somewhere - you will be asked for evolutionary context, and your career will DIE instantly if you state that there is none.

Evolution is fact in biotech science and industry. You don't need to believe it, but you do need to learn it.

fact or evidence that tends to contradict or undermine the evolution

Present something besides opinion.

Scientific and academic inquiry are fine; mysticism being pushed into a science class is not. Science class is for science. Religion class is for religion. Want kids to learn creationism? Stick 'em in a private school willing to teach it.

It isn't censorship to exclude creationism from a science class any more than it's censorship to exclude skydiving from a math class. Since one has nothing to do with the other, it's counterproductive and a complete waste of time and money to teach something completely unrelated to the subject at hand. Want to have religious instruction in public schools? Fine; be prepared for kids to learn about Islam, Raelianism, Judaism, Hinduism, Satanism, Scientology, Buddhism, Voodoo and a whole host of other things on an equal playing field as Christianity, because we all know it'll never play out any other way.

These threads are actually becoming monotonous.

Evoist: You have no proof.
IDer: You have no proof.

Evoist: You dont understand science.
IDer: You have no common sense

Evoist: Here are my zillion links proving I'm right and you are wrong.
IDer: Here are my zillion links proving I'm right and you are wrong.

There is truly a remarkable similarity between our current public school environment politically and mainland China to me.

I appreciate your perspective, but evolutionists are in trouble in the same way when it comes to facts and such.

What do make of natural time clocks like moon dust? Deltas at the Mississippi and Nile? Others?

At least both sides should be honest, and evos are NOT!

They are just playing King of the Hill intellectually, and making the rules while they are at it.

I agree this is a travesty (the 28 thing and exclusivity based on Evolution dogma).

There are scientists on both sides, and anyone who says different is part of the problem, and is just playing "because I said so".

Keep the bible out of science and the science out of theology.

Be real.

Evolution is a facet of a religion taught and defended by the high priests of the Secular Humanism (SH), no different than creationists.

The SCOTUS said so (about SH) in the 1940s.

SHers just want to hide behind some sort of Non-religious argument. Doesn't wash!

Why, pray tell, are public and government schools the SOLE DOMAIN for SHers?

They are deeply held religious-based beliefs, plain and simple. They have no proof that the Big Bang or whatever is true.

They just say because they "said so" and continue to play the lie.

Creationists won't let it play anymore, and SHers can't stand that the jig is up.
