"..Democrats viewed the race as a bellwether for 2006, saying even a strong showing by Hackett in such a heavily GOP district would be a good sign for them in the midterm elections..."

I believe I hear the sound of spin.

was a Marine who had seen duty in Iraq

i don't think he saw armed duty but was in a noncombatant role, Rush has it on his site ... i wonder if it was planned ? ... to be in iraq and then run as a veteran with deceitful ads to try to break the W juggernaut

Well, to relativists like the lefties, truth is whatever you want it to be at the time. The dialectic may work temporarily but eventually the delusion becomes so ingrained as to Hegel or Neitzche.

No mention of Hackett's recent commercials where he sounded like a GOP candidate backing Bush in the war on terrorism. (Rush played those ads today.)

Glad to see that enough voters saw through his deception to give the real GOP candidate Jean Schmidt the win!

Drudge had this story on his home page a few minutes ago and now it's gone. I wonder what happened. I've never seen him pull an article so fast like that.

How a Democrat who doesn't even ID his party and runs what amounts to a pro-Bush ad LOSING is a success for the Democrats escapes me.

I am sorry but I am unaware of the pro-Bush ad. Could you kindly tell me in what way it was pro-Bush? I am asking because on Hardball last night he sounded anti-Bush. Regards.

I like how this works for us. A clear win even with low turn out...but close enough that we won't take winning for granted in 2006—even in solid red areas.

The best kind of special election win, imo.

That should read; The delusion becomes so ingrained as to lead to insanity. Just ask Hegel or Neitzche.

Seat was open because President Bush appointed him to an administration position.

The reason it was so close is the Democrat in question concealed that he was a Democrat and even used Bush in his campaign adds.

He was stealth liberal.

I think they're more Oprah types, to be honest. They'll call Hegel and esp. Nietzsche evil white men, after all.

I happened to be walking past a TV tonight as this twerp was being interviewed on the NBC Nightly News. I was within earshot just long enough to hear two things: First, the reporter called him "part of a new generation of Democratic leaders" or some crap like that. Then I heard him spit out a one-liner insulting Bush.

I just laughed and walked away.

That was way too close.

well, it might not be too close if idiot republicans quit sending "message votes" to the RNC by voting for liberals because they are dissatisfied with the present candidates ... geez , howzabout sending a letter to the rnc instead of voting for someone 100 times worse than the republican candidate? dumb dumb dumb

Not sure which one you saw, but the one I saw was a clip of W on the war, and then he came on and said he agreed (with what W said) and that's why he went to Iraq. Even Polipundit just called it "what seemed like a Bush endorsement".

The Iraqi war vetran was a trial lawyer in the reserve.

Served in a civilian liason capacity.

Not that anyone serving there doesn't merit our thanks but he was trading the same way Kerry did.

LOL, then they, along with Oprah, deny the fathers of their delusional thinking.

Is it Jim Jones time over at DU?

It ought to be. The fact that the DUers could even tolerate a non-gay honorably discharged Marine as a candidate shows just how desperate they have become.

They just can't win by spouting the defeatist military bashing ant-Second Amendment liberal agenda. It is pure poison.
