London Bombings: More Balkans Blow-back?

by William Norman Grigg

August 1, 2005

Who is "al-Qaeda of Europe," the previously unknown terrorist group claiming responsibility for the murderous London bombings? Three of the suspected suicide bombers (all killed in the explosions) were immigrants from Pakistan: Mohammed Sidique Khan, 30; Hasib Hussain, 19; and Shehzad Tanweer, 22. Not immediately found was a fourth suspect, designated in some accounts as the presumed "master bomber."

A story in the London-based Financial Times quoted a top British explosives expert who claimed that the nature of the London explosions “suggests that the perpetrators acquired either military or high-quality commercial explosives, possibly from Eastern Europe.” According to Christophe Chaboud, head of the French security service’s Anti-terrorist Co-ordination Unit, “The use of military explosives is very worrying.... How did they procure them? Either they were supplied by the underground market, for example from the Balkans, or they benefited from accomplices who removed explosives from a military base.”

It’s worth recalling that, thanks to U.S. intervention, the Balkans have become a haven for radical Islamist terrorist organizations. This is particularly true of the former Yugoslav provinces of Bosnia and Kosovo.

During the three-sided Bosnian civil war, which pitted Serbs, Croats, and Bosnian Muslims against each other, the Clinton administration actively supported Bosnian Jihadists aligned with both Iran and Osama bin Laden. During the 1999 bombing of Serbia, Washington provided intelligence and material support to the so-called Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA), a Marxist narco-terrorist group closely allied to bin Laden. Incredibly, this took place after al-Qaeda’s 1998 attacks against our embassies in Kenya and Tanzania — and despite the fact that the KLA had been officially designated as a terrorist group by the State Department.

Also worth remembering is the fact that Sanel Sjekirika, accused by Spanish authorities of being the “mastermind” of the murderous March 2004 rail station bombing in Madrid, was from Bosnia.

"More Clintoon chickens coming home to roost??? (Exploding chickens at that.)"

Probably...though most of us expected them to target US interests first, since it was The War that Clinton won (for the exploding chickens)

Does anyone have any idea how many Bosnians were allowed to enter the USA after the Balkans war? I recently met a cab driver who was from Kosovo, but he said he was a muslim who immigrated after the conflict. I would have never guess b/c he was as white as the driven snow.

Thanks Clintoon for letting these war criminal's into our country. /s

One of the many utterly stupid things done during the Clinton years.

And some big thinkers here want to get Hillary elected for "shock value" to teach republicans a lesson!

Only because the "big thinkers" think that since no Republican is "conservative enough", we should elect Democrats since we expect them to be socialists. Obviously the nuance of this logic is lost upon our more mundane intellects.

This story is gaining traction -- SIS running Muslim nut-jobs into the Balkans, esp. Kosovo (remember how Tony Blair viewed it as a test of his manhood?). Not like this should come as a surprise to anyone, esp. those of us who observed the Kosovo War from our couch with a bottle of Slivovitz.

I've always maintained that the next attack on the US will not be from swarthy guys with rags on their heads. It will be from muslims who would blend in perfectly at a Minnesotan lutefisk eating convention! Blond hair and blue eyes. And some of the muslims in Eastern Europe are just as Wahhabist as any Jehadi from a Pakistani Madrassa.

We opened the door during the 90's. The Bosnians got so desperate during the war that they were willing to accept help from anyone, even Wahhabis (whose view on Islam is quite different from what has traditonally been practiced in Bosnia). Once the Wahhabis get into a country, it's tough to root them out.

I read an article a while back about how Saudi petro-dollars are leading to the opening of new mosques in Kosovo and Bosnia, to the alarm of traditional Muslims in those places (there was even a case where a group of Jewish and Muslim Bosnians had to fight tooth and nail to get a particularly architecturally significant Turkish mosque declared a protected historic site by the UN so that Wahhabis couldn't buy it and tear it down).

The London bombings are proving to have about as much to do with the Balkans as the Madrid ones, which is to say, none.

It's almost as if the purveyors of this disinformation don't realize how it prejudices anyone serious against listening to them again in the future.

Perhaps if they changed their names, they could re-enter the public arena for a short while, until their past identities are yet again revealed by their BS utterances.

Whatever.

Notably, according to London Times: "Late last week, Scotland Yard was still refusing to say exactly what type of explosive was used in the 7/7 and 21/7 attacks on the grounds that doing so might prejudice its investigations."
The reason Scotland Yard offers for its silence sounds rather disingenious. The "top British explosives expert", Chaboud and Grigg are making a very serious point.

Also notably, in 2003 ethnic Albanian KLA terrorists sold a large amount of powerful Semtex explosive to British journalists posing as "Real IRA" terrorists.

The truth remains that due to US policies of 90's - arms embargo on Bosnia and the Kosovo blunder(s), Saudi Wahhabi ideology has taken hold in Bosnia and Kosovo. The Saudi money's pouring to Sarajevo and other cities, and Wahhabi mosques and madrassas are rising like mushrooms after the rain, to great detriment of previously secularist/tolerant muslim population. Continuing economic depression and dependence on foreign aid, in conjunction with widespread corruption, leaves the populace open to these kind of suggestive ideologies. It's only a matter of time until we start seeing the bitter fruits of this.

It's well documented by interpol and other intelligence and law enforcement agencies that %70-%80 of Heroin imports from middle east (Afghanistan) to western europe come through Kosovo, under control of organized Albanian crime families, with islamic fundamentalist connections. The same smuggling network can be easily used for terroris operative infiltration into EU. Kosovo is a lawless area near the heart of Europe run by Albanian islamist mafia, which is quite happy US installed them as the rulers and are in no hurry to give it up - hence continued efforts of expulsion of remaining Serbian population. A de-facto situation on the ground now exists whereas Albanian majority is in full control of the province, except for the presence of KFOR troops. Disloging the widespread criminal elements will be extremely difficult and is something the EU has no stomach for, so they turn the blind eye towards it. While Madrid and London perhaps didn't have explicit connections to the area, it is, again, only a matter of time before a new, caucasian, and better educated terrorist class emerges from the region.
