On Hannity and Colmes, While discussing the requirements of a Supreme Court nominee, Ann just sarcastically noted that it was ok to kill a girl at Chappiquiddic. Colmes said that was a low blow and that comment was below her.
WHY??? WHAT is so darned SACRED about mentioning the truth???

Colmes didn't answer, and the set was quiet.
Hannity and Reagan (another guest) should have spoken up.

My point above was that it was his lawyer that told him to call he didn’t call on his own free will (this is an assumption of mine since he didn’t call the police first he called his lawyer first. Any good lawyer would of told him to call the police right away.)

In your defense from the rest of the Freepers. I will agree with you that this issue as far as politics goes, this issue is a dead issue. People have already made up their mind about Ted Kennedy. We can bring this up until we are blue in the face but it doesn’t help us politically.
But personally I believe people should be reminded at least once in a while of the crime he got away with. It is the right thing to do, if for nothing else for Mary Jo.

1. Why are you demanding "forgiveness" of Kennedy when he has shown no remorse, and hasn't even attempted to make ammends?
2. It's not that he intentionally meant to let her die--none of us can know if that is true or not. But, AT BEST, he didn't give a damn if she was still alive or not. His first contacts were with two attorney friends, and he has invoked the attorney-client privilege to prevent them from fully disclosing their stories to investigators. Every action since has been a selfish move to protect himself and minimize damage to him and his career, and MaryJo's well-being was not a consideration. Yeah, sure, that's someone who is nothing but remorseful over their mistake, isn't it.
3. Where is the grief you claim? I have seen no epiphany in him because of this. If he had reacted like, say, a Chuck Coleson, and how he changed his life after his wrong-doing, I might be more generous and forgiving.
Kennedy's evil acts continue to this day. Only a fool or an enabler would argue to forget about his most foul deed.
Thanks to the TV remote, I can erase TK and his opinions in a flash. Yet better to know the enemy's latest attack. If we don't put the pressure on our reps, we're blowin' in the wind. And we can't even count on speaking out to get results. For instance, what keeps Bush from demanding total defense of our borders despite most Americans, I believe, wanting illegal aliens kept out? I eagerly read your link about urban legends, but the transcript of the 2-4-04 hearing was not available. I will therefore have to defend the veracity of my statement, as I saw it live on TV--not from the internet or e-mails (but do not remember the date).
Perhaps your link referred to a different hearing. I definitely remember Rumsfield talking about missing a bridge, and the questioning from Senator Kennedy then ended.
Well, how condescending of you. We are all perfectly competent enough to debate Kennedy's political points of views. We do it all the time. It does not, however, require that we never speak of the crime he got away with. We do not need to ignore one thing to discuss the other.
I remember what a loser Carter was and sitting in the gas lines in the backseat of my parents car during some of those years. Didn't watch any of the rat stuff back then.
I've listened to Rush b4 and he has done the jokes, but never get to listen now because I'm always working when he's on.
I do not believe Hannity has ever mentioned this on TV, but who knows. Do you recall what shows did the Carter primary skits? I would assume SNL and their 2nd year was in 76 and probably quite funny because of Carter. Thanks, I will rent it some day.

Thanks for posting the video. I agree with whomever already said that Hannity looked like he was choking back guffaws.
The thing is that through, Kennedy's rabid support of abortion his political chooses kill millions and millions of innocent, helpless babies. Either way he is responsible for murder. I do not think manslaughter covers his crime concerning Mary Jo since he left her to die and she would not have otherwise. He had lots of time to get her the help she needed as she slowly died while he ate breakfast. That seems premeditated to me and extremely cold blooded.
No, but he certainly knew not telling anyone for 8 hours ended any chance she had at survival. He had to realize there was a possibility she was still alive, or at least would respect her enough not leave her body at the bottom of a canal overnight.

Did Belushi ever play Kennedy? I don't think so. I watched SNL a lot in those days. I have many memories of Dan Ackroyd as Carter but don't remember a parody debate between Teddy and Jimmy. In fact, I can't remember any Chappaquidick jokes at all on SNL.
(Though I do remember a Volkswagon "ad" in the National Lampoon. It showed a Volkswagon floating on a pond and the headline was: "If Ted Kennedy drove a Volkswagon, he'd be President today." Volkswagon sued.)
No, it isn't mean-spirited to remind him of his crime that was never punished as an obvious case of manslaughter due to the Kennedy's wide and noxious influence in the State. I don't have to forgive him, but her parents and relatives might want to think about it. He is the epitome of a mean-spirited man and demonstrates it daily
