My bet is on Baptists.
Oh lots of laughs on that one.
This is very sad news. They seem to see this as the time to strike all around the world. Forget about talk of poor and oppressed. There is another motivation behind all of this activity.
Turkey has allowed the Americans to use their territory to hit Saddam Hussein. I believe that this is the action of Hussein loyalists.
Do you realise that this coincides with Saddam Hussein coming to trial?

That would explain the attempted bombing in London a week after 7/7. A second attack so close to the first is not the usual pattern.

The Turks had better pull out of Muslim lands.

May be so. Note the most recent acts have been inside secular states. They have been trying to create Islamic states everywhere, trying to recreate their spectacular success of a thousand years ago. They are doomed to failure if history is any guide. Failed revolutions never find the same circumstances again and just fizzle. Ask Saddam how his new Babylonian Empire is coming. Too late to ask Mussolini how the new Roman Empire did.

The best thing to do would be to get our governments to protect our modern states, since the modern state, in general, functions fairly well as a space for personal liberties. A violent, anarchistic society means that we will spend all of our time defending ourselves, which has been the situation at other times in the past and has never lead to prosperous or creative societies.
I hope our states will wake up to the fact that Islam is, in many ways, a worse threat than Communism. The latter was vicious and dangerous but had at least a theoretically rationally basis (although Communism is really just an act of faith, deep down inside), while Islam has many more adherents and has no rational pretense whatsoever.

That was what I thought, too. I wonder if some sort of "go ahead" has been given. I read that Zarqawi had announced that Iraq was a waste of time for AQ and he was turning his attention elsewhere, so perhaps this is part of it.

The Associated Press
ISTANBUL, Turkey (AP) - A bomb exploded Saturday at an Istanbul cafe frequented by both Turks and foreign tourists, injuring at least two people, police said.

Failed revolutions never find the same circumstances again and just fizzle. Ask Saddam how his new Babylonian Empire is coming. Too late to ask Mussolini how the new Roman Empire did. Not to mention the Thousand-Year Reich (oops; they didn't even make 1000 weeks).

It feels like the mood here is starting to change some. Calif talking about a fence and Houston cops being told to enforce immigration laws? Are pigs flying?

Great map. For once, I'm glad I don't live in a "red" state.
